I just could not get into it. By the 4th I was don't and also falling asleep/looking at my phone. So I cut my losses. Maybe if Blackthorne was more charismatic but he was awful. And the regents were immature and petty. I don't think the original book translated well in this show. |
3 of top 4, and 10 of top 16 characters are male. A substantial portion of the female leads' lines are translating between two men. It's pretty male-centric. Politics and war are pretty male-centric, especially in the 17th century. https://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/shogun/viewers-guide/characters |
Walking and talking. Chopsticks and chopping off heads. |
Real life is mostly sleeping and sitting in traffic. Doesn't mean I'll watch a TV shows about it. |
We had witch burning. |
I watch for the cloths. The outfits are spectacular. I also like the opening. |
And she owned episode 9. Amy of one. |
It is history. The West was putting people on stakes and burning witches during the same period. |
That is true. I can't watch bloody action movies or horror movies. I don't mind Shogun for some reason. I think it is historically accurate and not too graphic. |
It's slow, but holds my interest. And agree that Blackthorne in the weak link in the acting dept. I'm also plain tired of his voice. |
What’s wrong with gratuitous, completely unnecessary sex scenes? |
Yeah, what are some inspiring herstory movies? I could watch movies about knitting and dusting all day. |
What we need to put this into perspective is a “Far Side” cartoon showing a couple rabbits watching TV & one says, “I had no problem with ‘Shogun,’ but I couldn’t handle ‘Fatal Attraction.’” |
Cosmo Jarvis as Tom Hardy as William Shatner as Captain Kirk in a time travelling wormhole to the feudal Japans. |
The Great. More sex, a lot more sex talk, less gory violence, more women manipulating simps. |
