I also don’t stress out about “getting my heart rate up” since I’m doing that by several orders of magnitude more than average anyways. Definitely eat a lot of carbs in the car. How else am I supposed to recover and keep the weight on.
PP jogging mommy is a lunatic. |
Omg I needed that laugh |
Me too!🤣🤣 Can you imagine them out there in the summer running and sweating at noon and then hopping right back in the car for a few more hours? But to answer the question- McDonald’s, Wendy’s, and chick fil a are usually consistent. I order ahead on the app so we don’t have to wait too long for the food. Sheetz can also be a nice stop with a lot of options. |
DP, but honestly, I remember stopping the car frequently when my kids were 4 and under. They didn't like sitting in the car seat and they didn't like watching videos, so it was a lot of stopping and running around. |
+1. I remember having to split an 8 hour car ride over 2 days because my kids just hated being in the car. We'd stop at a hotel halfway and then have them play in the pool for the rest of the day. |
Buc-ee's!!! |
When driving to visit the in-laws when the kids were little, we used to stop at Friendly’s for lunch (husband’s childhood nostalgia + ice cream), but honestly the food is pretty gross, so we switched to Cracker Barrel. These days we often have the dogs with us, so sit-down is out, and we generally just pick up something quick at Panera (love the Napa chicken salad) or Sonic (mostly because I’m all about that cherry limeade).
If we drive to visit my parents, we usually stop at Chick Fil-A if it’s not Sunday, and at Raising Cane’s if there’s one a decent distance from the highway. Sometimes also Cracker Barrel so our daughter can indulge in her love of all-day pancakes. For that trip, we have to spend the night, and there’s a good barbecue restaurant in the city where we often stop that’s our go-to. [Frequently these days, though, we fly rather than drive. I have mixed feelings about that.] |
Weird. When my kids hate something we get it over with and done as fast as possible, not drag it out and ruin 2 days. |
I would definitely tune in for this family's reality tv show. I have a feeling this is the tip of the iceberg. |
Whataburger or chicken nuggets.
A chocolate frosty could easily fill me instead of the above. Dirty Secret THE WAFFLEHOUSE. Their breakfast menus are fantastic. |
Weird. This is not a problem for us. Guess we don’t have the kind of precious delicate tummies your family has. |
I haven’t seen a McDonald’s salad since before the pandemic. I read they took salads off the menu. Where are you seeing salads at McDonald’s? |
For years it was mostly Noodles or Panera with an occasional stop at McDonalds (DH’s choice for road trips since it’s fast). On our most frequently traveled route we also stop at a cafe/sandwhich shop (local to Hampton Roads area). If I didn’t have kids with me, I’d stop at Cava but one of my kids dislikes it. |
Panera's, Jersey Mike's. If we have more time, I like Cracker Barrel. |
The Subway chopped salads are surprisingly very good. Discovered this during a carb-free era and happily continue to order now. You can turn any of their sandwiches into a salad and they chop the meat, cheese, and veggies into little pieces. Like Chop't but 1/3 of the price. |
