What happened to NYC?

Too many people all crammed together. Not good for mental health.

Cop killed by a thug with 21 prior arrests.
Subway rider killed by some mentally ill loon.
Tragic.

Mayor Eric Adams renewed calls Tuesday for Albany to take aim at rampant recidivism in the wake of two horrific acts of violence that left an NYPD officer and an innocent subway-rider dead.

The Adams administration held up the state’s revolving-door criminal justice system as one of the main unaddressed issues — along with mental health — driving the spate of crime and random violent incidents in the Big Apple.

“What’s interesting is that our practices, laws and policies are not going after these issues,” Hizzoner said during a sober conference from City Hall.

Adams highlighted Monday night’s bloodshed as a clear example of those problems coming to a head — with the shooting of 31-year-old cop Jonathan Diller allegedly by a career criminal in Queens and an unhinged man accused of shoving a 54-year-old man to his death at an East Harlem subway station.

Just unreal. 21 PRIOR ARRESTS. Nice job, NYC.

People who don't think there has been a visible decline in NYC are delusional. I live in close-in NY suburb and the difference in quality of life is tremendous. Rise in homeless population many with mental problems, spiked crime in subway, garbage on streets, etc. Many people are fed up.

At yet, NYC real estate is getting so cheap! No one wants to live there!

NYC office occupancy rates in March stand at 51% of the pre-pandemic level, according to Kastle systems. So the good news is that only half of NYC’s office workers are left to deal with the grime, crime, and taxes. Plus I hear that every time a judge bangs his gavel in New York, another taxpayer leaves for Florida.

NP. Not a bot. My 19yr daughter just visited with another 19yr. Young, attractive women. They went for a concert, spent the night. Never felt unsafe. Loved it.

Op, get off social media, go outside and touch grass. You need it.

Comp the amtrak stations. Some friends got on in NYC - stay over stop in Phila - then DC. Ours is the worst.

NYC is doing things like giving illegal aliens prepaid credit cards loaded with $18,200 as long as they'll sign an affidavit that they'll only use it for food and clothing.

Yes, what happened to NYC?

The article clearly shows that in fact ZERO cards were “loaded with $18,200” despite whatever math challenged dum dums may claim.

DP
They might not all receive that amount. But, did you not see this line?...

"Migrant families in New York city have begun receiving prepaid debit cards as part of a controversial scheme that could see them receive up to $18,200 a year. "

Seriously. Most of these people peddling this crap about how "liberal cities" have become like Mogadishu must never get out of their mom's basements to actually experience life and instead just get all of their knowledge from the right wing echo chamber.
