It’s the largest city in America. Statistically it’s likely there will be terrible crimes from time to time, but anybody who has spent time there is well aware that, aside from some clouds of weed smoke and some homeless people, most of whom have no interest in passerby, it’s a remarkably clean and safe city.
A NYPost article about depraved people doing terrible things in a metro area with tens of millions is no more indicative of what nyc is like than a story about hillbillies lynching a minority is an indictment of rural America. |
Where is Eric Adams putting most of the migrants these days? Still into hotels? |
If a certain party would let them work they wouldn't have to be put anywhere, they'd get their own places. |
How much do you need to earn to live in NYC (without their monster rats)? |
There are millions of working-class folks in NYC doing just fine. You can't buy a condo in manhattan, but literally millions of low-skilled or non-english speaking people happily work and live in NYC. And a lot of the migrants currently flooding in are not low-skilled and they do speak English. The vast majority could house themselves if they were allowed to work. Those that couldn't work could be managed. |
NP. This is NBC, doing a story on women who are getting punched on the streets of NYC. https://www.msn.com/en-us/video/news/growing-number-of-women-report-being-punched-on-nyc-streets/vi-BB1lknOE?t=23#details |
If another party would take the security of our country seriously and enforce the border laws we currently have, these people would not be here to begin with and we would not be footing the bill for their housing, food, and basic needs. |
lol, tired talking point, move on. immigrants working hard is what makes our country great! as your type likes to say, love it or leave it! we don't need anti-work loafers like you! |
What happen to NYC?
Progressive’s political agenda; that is what happened to NYC. |
oh good lord I live in NYC and it's not a 'hellhole'. I have not stepped in poop that I can remember. There is a homelessness problem and a drug problem among that population but that is nothing new. It is NYC ffs! It's the biggest city in america, one of the biggest cities in the world and it's insanely crowded.
I do agree that the last few mayors, current one included, suck. But that does not mean nyc is a 'hellhole'. Nyc is still arguably the most important city in the world and the heartbeat of finance, media and culture. You dont get that title by being the city version of j crew. |
pp here - that IS a problem. We earn high six figures and we can't upsize from our 2 bedroom condo without going to bk, which would be fine but the commute is actually a little brutal. commute from burbs also brutal. You cannot buy a nice 3 bedroom in manhattan for less than $4m and on top of that, more than $7k in monthly maintenance and tax. And bear in mind there are a lot of apartments so that means we live among a swathe of incredibly high net worth individuals competing for real estate. Can be stressful. |
Immigrants, yes. ILLEGAL immigrants, hell no. Don't conflate the two. Why are you - and the Biden administration - so anxious to make the citizens of our country at risk by allowing in millions - yes, MILLIONS - of illegal immigrants, most of whom we know NOTHING about? Why are you so willing to put citizens of this country second to people who break our laws and enter illegally? |
Umm... I'll just let your words hang there. How embarrassing that you actually believe this, much less say it. |
Exactly. You won't get an answer though. At least, not one that makes any sense. |
