9 Reasons to NOT get the H1N1 Vaccine

Anonymous
I already decided the kids and I are not getting this vaccine. Is there anyone here that is/has or is not? Thoughts on the list?

9 Reasons not to get the H1N1 vaccine:

1. The swine flu is simply another flu. It is not unusually deadly.

2. This is the first time both seasonal and pandemic flu vaccines will be administered. Both seasonal flu and swine flu vaccines will require two inoculations. This is because single inoculations have failed to produce sufficient antibodies. This is an admission that prior flu vaccines were virtually useless. Can you trust them this time?

3. Adjuvants are added to vaccines to boost production of antibodies but may trigger autoimmune reactions. Some adjuvants are mercury (thimerosal), aluminum and squalene. Why would you sign a consent form for your children to be injected with mercury, which is even more brain-toxic than lead?

4. This is the first year mock vaccines have been used to gain FDA approval. The vaccines that have been tested are not the same vaccines your children will be given.

5. Over-vaccination is a common practice now in America. American children are subjected to 29 vaccines by the age of two. Meanwhile, veterinarians have backed off of repeat vaccination in dogs because of observed side effects.

6. Modern medicine has no explanation for autism, despite its continued rise in prevalence. Yet autism is not reported among Amish children who go unvaccinated.

7. Researchers are warning that over-use of the flu vaccine and anti-flu drugs like Tamiflu and Relenza can apply genetic pressure on flu viruses and then they are more likely to mutate into a more deadly strain.

8. Most seasonal influenza A (H1N1) virus strains tested from the United States and other countries are now resistant to Tamiflu (oseltamivir). Tamiflu has become a nearly worthless drug against seasonal flu.

9. Public health officials are irresponsible in their omission of any ways to strengthen immunity against the flu. No options outside of problematic vaccines and anti-flu drugs are offered, despite the fact there is strong evidence that vitamins C and D activate the immune system and the trace mineral selenium prevents the worst form of the disease.

It's parents like you that make me glad I didn't put my child in day care where he may get in contact with your unvaccinated child. You're an idiot.

I disagree about the H1N1 vaccine. My family and I will get it. But I certainly wouldn't call the OP an idiot. It's good to question and to force the vaccine industry to constantly make improvements. I do wish the OP acknowledged that there are certain high-risk groups for H1N1. In a risk/benefit analysis, the benefits clearly outweigh the risks for those groups. For those not in a high-risk group, I understand the hesitation to get the vaccine, but I still think the benefits outweigh the risks (because of herd immunity).

I too am suspicious of any sort of vaccine and I'm sure there are counter arguements to all of your above points, but I take major issue with #6 and the Amish.

It is actually found that there is a genetic link to Autism. If you have a autistic child then your chances of having another are much greater. The Amish are a HOMOGENOUS culture. Genetically they are all very closely related. Typically, as in many homogenous cultures you have some diseases that are extremely prevalant and some that are non-existant.

If you take your Amish argument you can apply it to all kinds of reasons why Amish children do not have Autism. Most all Amish women breastfeed, all Amish eat a simple diet of whole foods that are home grown free of all pesticides, antibiotics, chemicals, and processing. Amish are not exposed to much cell phone and other forms or electrical waves from TVs, iPODS, Computers, and microwaves. Amish are not exposed to chemicals that are brought into the home from new furniture, rugs and carpet treated with chemicals, mattresses that are sprayed down, and a host of other contaimnates that surround us. You cannot cherry pick the "amish lifestyle" and single out vaccines. There are MANY ways the Amish live their lives differently than ours. You could equally say amish eat all free range eggs, therefore have no Autism. However, most people think the Amish don't have Autism because of their small and insular gene pool. On the other hand, Amish have HUGE numbers of other genetic problems that the general population doe not suffer from, again because of that homogenous gene pool.

FWIW, I have an autistic child who has only had the most mimimal of vax's, never had the MMR. We have found great success with a massive overhaul in diet (look up DAN doctors). My child is thriving and just about "normal" after eliminating wheat, dairy, eggs, and focusing on a complete WHOLE foods diet. From first hand experience, I believe that diet plays a MUCH stronger role in autism than anything else. As part of my quest to find the root of my son's problems, he has been tested for ALL chemicals and heavy metals you could imagine. His body has NO mercury, but has high levels of whatever chemical is in computers (the technical terms escapes me now).

This is the first time both polio and swine flu vaccines will be administered. This is an admission that the polio vaccine does not prevent swine flu!

And OP...the Amish suffer from multiple genetic defects...including dwarfism and mental retardation. Do some homework.

If you are correct, then this is an argument for getting the vaccine. Tamiflu is not the vaccine, it is the medicine you take to shorten the duration of the flu once you catch it.

You need to inoculations, because you are dealing with two different flu strains.

Not just an idiot, but a dangerous idiot. I hope people don't get taken in by this charlatan. The autism/vaccination link has been comprehensively disproved, you won't find any reputable doctors who support it.

OP, you should be ashamed of your ignorance, and even more ashamed by your attempts to persuade the gullible into being taken in by your undigested mish-mash of pseudo-scientific mumbo-jumbo.

I don't object to people questioning things, but I don't expect to take medical advice from Lew Rockwell (or his website). Most of those statements reveal ignorance, whether intentional or not, but I don't have the time to go through one by one.

that's fine. dont get your vaccine. your choice. but your post is full of inaccurate statements and I hope others dont believe everything they read.

I think many Americans (e.g. those who don't vaccinate) have become naive about disease and mortality since so many diseases have become curable or even eradicated and we have good access to healthcare. I don't like the idea of vaccines either, but the reality of getting a possibly deadly-illness far outweighs it. I will definitely "grin and bear it" and protect my baby from as many diseases as I can, so she'll hopefully have a long life. My daughter's daycare providers will not be getting either flu vaccines (not trusting it), but all the medical opinions I've read from highly reputable physicians, are recommending it. So that's where I'm putting my trust, despite recognizing that there are reasons to not get it. It's a matter of which weighs more heavily when balancing.

Ugh, please take your scare tactics elsewhere.

"5. Over-vaccination is a common practice now in America. American children are subjected to 29 vaccines by the age of two. Meanwhile, veterinarians have backed off of repeat vaccination in dogs because of observed side effects."

Many of us don't believe our children are "over-vaccinated." And, your last statement is idiotic. Do you have dogs? Because this statement is false.

This has not been my personal experience. I happen to be 8 months pregnant and last week got flu symptoms (my friend, her DH, and her toddler all tested positive for H1N1 and we had spent the weekend away with them prior). I got my Tamiflu and it squashed it pretty fast. 5 days later I'm back to normal. My friend who did not get the Tamiflu in time had a terrible experience that lasted 7 days and she is still not feeling 100%. She is nursing her 4 week old and was told in error that she could not have Tamiflu. As a result, she had to leave her infant with her mother for a week in order to not give the flu to the baby.

There are so many falsehoods in the original post that I don't even know where to begin. There ARE preservative free versions of the vaccines available. There are NO adjuvants in the United States' versions of the seasonal influenza or H1N1 vaccines. Autism DOES exist in the Amish community - the Dan Olmsted "study" claiming that there is no autism among the Amish has long been debunked. I'm sick of all the lies and fearmongering surrounding the influenza and H1N1 vaccines. Lew Rockwell is the furthest thing from a competent medical expert - he's an extremist libertarian political commentator. Everyone should make their own decision about whether or not to get the vaccines - but the decision should be made based on scientific facts, not on lies and politically motivated fearmongering.

Are you saying that each vaccine will require two innoculations? If so, that is just wrong. The seasonal flu vaccine only requires two innoculations if you are under 9 and have never received a flu shot before. The swine flu vaccination is approved for one dose in patients 10 years of age and older. You're free to your opinions on the vaccine, but don't spread misinformation.
