Can you move first and then report it? |
OP, please call and say you have to stay anonymous for your own safety. I make mandated reporter calls all the time. They definitely do not investigate every call, and they have been very easy to deal with. |
Getting advice and different ideas on how to proceed is helping. Good for you OP! |
Im horrifed too. But if they lost all morals and are willing to rape their own child I'd be fearful what they could do to my family. |
Are you paranoid because everyone knows who called the county to complain about the neighbors' yards? Don't worry, that was OBVIOUS. |
What is wrong with you? If something is going on, you call CPS, end of story. A child has no protection, NONE. While OP has the option to call the police, get a handgun to protect themselves, a child is being abused enough that it is obvious to other people and is not getting help. How are they going to know it was OP who called? You can make an anonymous report. Mandatory Reporters, teachers, pastors, counselors, teachers, do not have a choice. OP is burning daylight wondering what if about something that might not happen and failing to report what they do see is ACTUALLY happening. And then folks turn around and wonder what is wrong with this world. Kitty Genovese all over again. |
She knows what to do, just not willing to do it.Scared, get licensed to have a gun. But when this kid turns up dead, and you did nothing, don't just blame the abuser. |
This person did something:

So you let a child rapist go -- you are just as bad as the rapist. |
Wait, you WITNESSED a child being raped and you didn't do anything? |
OP I had to call the cops recently for a welfare check on a teen neighbor.
If you are worried, do as other posters say, get a disposable phone, remain anonymous. Please don't hesitate. |
I'm the PP who tried to report something to CPS in Montgomery County. It was not rape. I could never let that go. What I witnessed wasn't good, but it certainly wasn't rape. As to being afraid of a confrontation -- I wouldn't have confronted him, but if CPS told him about the incident, he would have known it was me. What I didn't know was whether he knew my name. I do not want to endanger my own children for some crazy person seeking revenge. |
This is true, at least in Montgomery County. My husbands ex wife has called CPS on us multiple times for truly outlandish and crazy things. In those cases, CPS has placed a phone call to my husband and spoken to my stepson and the cases have been dismissed without a home investigation. In one case the CPS person came to our house because his ex gave the phone number incorrectly, she didn't step foot inside out house and was coming out just to let my husband know it was being dismissed. |
Wow, now that seems completely overboard. Why did they take his word for it? That seems crazy too! |
Say what? A whiny neighbor who fabricates stories about neighbors' yards is a different situation than OP. OP doesn't seem to be whining here. OP seems genuinely concerned about a real situation - a child - not some petty neighbor with too much time on their hands. |
