I feel badly too for the owners. They didn't do anything to bring this on except try to build and improve their home.

They should have tried harder. Not an improvement at all.

HGTV used to have a series called "Curb Appeal" where they would fix outward appearance by landscaping and some cosmetic changes.

I think all these homes are very fixable!

Robert E Lee is rolling over in his grave...this is the virginia he fought for?

It's a beautiful home.

This one was built AROUND the existing house.

this is all public accessible info. YOU goes to far.

Yes- OP seems to have some sort of issue with Vienna and is trying to make this the example of the town. There are plenty of unattractive builds in all communities, but there isn't any reason someone should single them out.
I find it appalling that the OP would pick on someone's home. My guess is that the OP lives in a shit shack in Arlington and wants to justify her lame lifestyle.

Something tells me the owners were not born in the USA

Things that came up in our last HOA meeting:

Matching mailboxes - great idea until that style is discontinued and someone needs to replace their mailbox

Greening up the out-lots - sounds lovely until you pollute the Chesapeake with fertilizers.

Cracking down on campaign signs on lawns - against state law here in VA, so long as they are temporary signs.

I must have said "A HOA can't supersede county and state law" about 400 times.

The first 2 are very good.

Matching mailboxes? Who are these people, and how nitpicky do you have to be even to notice whether mailboxes match, let alone care?

There has to be something between that level of micromanaging and . . . . well, not going to call out anyone's house, but they're out there.

This is what happens when you live in a non HOa neighborhood.

At least it is smaller and not as visible. They took the ugliness of the original home, expanded it and created a permanent plastic shell.

It's not as visible b/c it's being overshadowed by Ugly McMansion.

Yes - I agree with your second statement. lol!
