Depending when he turns 18 and where you live make sure he knows even consensual sex could be considered illegal. I’m not an expert but a Google search makes it look like in MD 16 is the age of consent and under 16 can be legal if you’re within two years of each other in age. In VA it looks like anyone 18 or older having sex with anyone under 18 is against the law even if the younger person is about to turn 18.

People have actually asked me about this before when they hear my husband and I started dating our freshman year of college when I was 19 and he was 17! (We met at the end of the school year and he was over 18 before we were intimate.) it’s interesting to me that people ask that but it’s worth knowing and being careful about.

I have a 17 year old son and I monitor that stuff. No girls in the bedroom. No doors shut to the basement. I've caught his friend and a girl trying to sneak upstairs to my son's bedroom. I raised holy hell. And I am a quiet, meek acting person in general. I never cause a scene. But with this I do.

It's ok to say no and be the hard ass mom. I was prepared for my son and his guy friends to hate me for being tough. But they actually seem to like me for it.
