Does this mean that some didn’t even make alternate? I need clarification on that before deciding. If everyone makes alternate and now we are being offered it’s simply a money grab at this point?

This person doesn’t have the right numbers. There were more like 150 girls at the tryout.

There were over 150 girls there. Maybe not 325 but well over 150. Those who did not make a team are not automatically alternates. I know a handful of girls who did not make a team and did not make it as an alternate. They are from private and public schools and are great players but admitted to having a bad tryout. It happens, move on. Like others previously mentioned, this is a fun non-impact event no need to get so upset your kid did not make it.

I don't think most of us are upset about kids not making it or making a lower team. Not making the team happens all the time. We just want to be able to decline without penalty instead of spending money and time traveling to play on a lower team. I think most of us would prefer only having 3 teams and cutting everyone else.

Exactly. With a ton of travel and expenses this summer, having an option to decline if you aren’t on a top 3 should be an option—without penalty.

Agreed - makes me thankful to be an alternate. No penalty to decline.

If you're a committed player, should you have tried out for school girls?

Don't think DC Metro allows committed players to tryout/play

There is no rule that you can't although in the past committed players were encouraged to stand aside and let those uncommitted players tryout.

Omg seriously? The evaluators are high school and club coaches. They trade votes for each other’s players It’s as political as it gets. Always has been. Well known fact.

So everyone saying the tournament is not good for recruiting is wrong? If this statement is true then obviously recruiting is taking place.

You may get seen by the 5-6 college coaches that are there is you are lucky…

College coaches are there to see teams play in the championship game. More at the top bracket than less. At last that is what I saw last year.

That's not true - they cannot attend the championship game or any game on a day a final for game is taking place.

Why is that?

Jesus H., can they get these GD rosters straightened out? I have to think there's been a shit ton of push back from the families of team 4 and 5.

Two girls have been moved from my daughter’s team that we are aware of. What’s the point of having a tryout if parents are asking to be moved?
