School girl tournament

The downside is if you are nominated, regardless of grade year, and you choose not to attend or don't go to the tryout (lax politics and all). You get yourself and your school in hot water should you choose not to attend.

Umm, no you don't. Being nominated means your HS coach gives you information about the tryout, when you use logic, you realize that the coach sees something in you.

Anyone is free to not go, there is no penalty assigned. It's when you try out and are placed onto a team, that you risk penalties to yourself and your school if you don't accept a team placement.

If you tryout and make a team then you have to accept to avoid the penalty for yourself and school. It seems like they keep adding teams each year so I would think carefully before trying out as being forced to play/pay for a lower team is not worth it for most. There might be coaches at team 1 games but there will not be at team 6.

Lots of team shifting going on right now.

Sounds shifty.

Exactly. Please provide examples

Was everyone who did not make it made an alternate or did they actually pick alternates?
Anonymous
Alternates are getting placed on teams now.

Do alternates move to team five? Or are they placed wherever the opening is? Seems like everyone should get shifted up.

Waitlisted girls are placed on team 5. Girls already on team 5 would get moved to team 4 and so on. I know several that have turned down their spots and have heard about team movement.

Curious are the ones turning down their spots doing so because they did not make the first team?

That would be my guess? There are some very solid players on higher numbered teams and vise-versa. Many are talking about not trying out next year if the teams are this far out of line with reality.

Whatever scoring system they used was terrible. It’s not just a miss here or there which would be acceptable. There are big misses. My daughter is a starter on a top private and didn’t make any team??

I would love insight into their scoring system! Anyone know?

What exactly do you put on your recruiting account page if you made a lower team? Do you notify D2/D3 teams to watch?
