School girl tournament

Do they post the list of college coaches? At this point in the recruiting process, if there is not a lot of coaches from solid schools why would elite players go?

There definitely are coaches on the sidelines. In 2023 it was pouring rain on the last day so there were no coaches - they all went to the NCAA championship game. There are college coaches at the games in the top brackets - also there to see their commits play.

Stop giving false hope nobody is coming to watch your daughters game.

No college coach is going to these games to watch their commits play. Juniors shouldn’t be playing in the tournament because it is really meant for underclassmen. Very little recruiting happening at the tourney.

Save your money.

Most schools have final exams the following week, so preparing for exams to ensure your transcript looks good to a coach and the pre-read at the admissions office after 9/1 would be a wiser way to spend the weekend.

They all have generic names with American or US in them, you couldn't use the one this tournament is actually called? Makes harder to search archives when people search for the actual event.

Tournament is run by USA Lacrosse. Competition is decent and it’s always held the same weekend as the women’s final four. The DC Metro team does not allow kids who are committed to try out although other regions do. So some of the other competition is pretty good. Worth doing if you have the time.

Yes, I know. I was trying to convey to OP that she horribly botched the name of this event.

This used to be "The Tournament" back in the day, really meant something to participate.

This would have been good information to have before the tryouts. Would've stayed home.

Anecdotally it felt like sophomore girls (who are now juniors) who played in this last year were recruited very quickly the following fall to a lot of stellar programs. Chicken and the egg - who knows if the tournament had anything to do with it or they were selected to tournament bc they are excellent players — but even if that is the case, a lot of strong players on all three DC teams last year. Great lacrosse despite the rain.

They were recruited because they play for top area clubs. Nothing to do with this tournament.

It definitely doesn't hurt your recruiting. If it's not listed on your accolades, college coaches will probably wonder why your high school coach didn't nominate you. Maybe they will see it as a red flag that you aren't considered a top player on your high school team.

Nah. People are busy that weekend. Nobody cares you didn’t tryout for the tournament. College coaches aren’t going to wonder.
