Same here! Although pretty sure the Potomac booster needed therapy before the thread was started.

Right, not the Gonzaga booster who kept replying trying to make Gonzaga happen. Only the Potomac poster is crazy. Classic response to deflect/insult when you have no facts support your arguments. I guess the Gonzaga parents are as intellectually weak as their kids.

There are multiple people responding. The craziness is your inability to see the value in anything except standardized test scores and college admissions. You are caught in very old-school, snobby ways of thinking about worth and value. You are willfully ignoring the FACTS about how many things besides just the school you go to impact things like standardized test scores and college admissions. Talk about intellectually weak!

Huh? Can you give out some metrics schools should be measured by? So far academically speaking Gonzaga isn’t all that.

This thread is nuts. PP, there are multiple people posting for Gonzaga and Potomac.

It's cute that you think families going to "less-costly private schools" aren't also extremely privileged relative to the rest of the general population.

There's no gotcha here. Of course the majority of us with kids at private schools probably have some level of privilege. Where did I say otherwise? Oh, that's right, I didn't. It's true of many of the parents who send kids to certain public schools, as well.

I'm simply pointing out that there is a continuum among private-school parents just like any other group. Many of us have to budget very carefully and give up other things to send our kids to private schools. We were more limited in the schools we applied to due to cost. And it will be the same for college. We are grateful to be able to do what we can, but our choices here are not unlimited.

And it by no means speaks to the academic abilities or worthiness of our kids and the schools that they attend. Or to the academic abilities or worthiness of kids in public schools and the schools they attend, for that matter. But keep deluding yourself.

I know you hate measurable metrics like college admissions. Here are the college profiles page for Gonzaga and Potomac. Potomac has better ACT, SAT, and AP exam results. But please keep telling me how much better it is.

Too bad no one takes the sat and act anymore lol. What a useless metric. I’m sure you’re the same person crying in other threads about how test optional is so unfair blah blah blah. Not even colleges agree with you about what matters most, but it’s all you have left as you desperately cling to an old inequitable system to stay relevant.

You say that, but it’s clearly all you can think about/write about/probably dream about. Why are you so threatened if you’re so superior?

So if tests don’t matter, why is the graduating class performing better than Gonzaga’s?

Disagree. A Gonzaga student will have a very robust college app between academics, sports, service and civic engagement.

Once again, what are your metrics to measure the school as a whole? You said PP was very old-school for their thoughts about testing and scores for college admissions, but then you talk about the “robust college app” Gonzaga students will have. Last time I checked along with the stronger test scores, Potomac students also have great academics, play sports(winning multiple ISL tournaments) and have civic engagement.

College apps don’t matter to Gonzaga parents. They don’t care about SATs and ACTs even though all private school kids take them. They don’t care about AP scores because it isn’t a metric they like. And they don’t care about college admissions because they are all cost conscious and can’t afford elite schools. But they DO care about sports - that is the ticket to Ivies (for the very small percentage of students who aren’t underprivileged, since these schools don’t give sports scholarships).

We should come up with some new lists. Maybe an all around list (to include price, academics, sports, college placement and alumni, essentially best value). Then you can have specific lists for best sports, most well known, academics (maybe based on test scores though not the best metric) etc. I’m sure folks on this forum can come up with some new lists that are more relevant than recycling the same big three nonsense.

Private schools parents do that all the times. Check the MCPS forum. It is overrun by private schools parents.

I don't believe you. There is absolutely no reason to go on a public school forum. The worlds do not intersect. Once a year we play a public school in sports that is it. Separate worlds socially and school wise.

Sometimes I'll get a caddy at the club who attends a local public school. Nice kids but wouldn't want them dating my daughters.

🤮 Are you the Potomac booster? If not, please share where your kids go to school so that I can be sure to avoid it.

Subtract Potomac from best all around list as it doesn’t offer the opportunity to attend the Right to Life March.
