OP here. Thanks for the feedback. It's not an especially exciting list, but we're not an especially exciting couple - he he. Might just have to pick a name out of a hat... |
Eh, I am a Shannon and people I just meet constantly say Sharon. It doesn't bother me all that much. No, not a lot of little American Laura's, although nameberry claims it has become a popular name in several other countries. It means Laurel, though. Weird. Anyways, I'm rooting for Laurel mostly because I can't get it past my husband (he won't give me a reason why) and I think it is a lovely name that has been used on two shows I have watched recently (The Lying Game and Arrow). |
Not to mention people who pronounce it "Lore-el". My neighbor does that. She works in "Lore-el". |
Evelyn! |
It's pronounced Lore-el when I say it. (I also pronounce "marry", "Mary", and "merry" the same.) |
Laurel the best.
Then Evelyn or Brooke. Can't throw a rock around here without hitting a Charlotte or an Isabel. |
Love them all! Sorry I'm no help. =D |
Laurel, Brooke.... Ivy Holly Rose? Are we in a garden? Jokes aside, like them both. Isabel and Charlotte are dated to the aughts. Brooke is dated to the 80s, but it is still a classic. |
Evelyn and Isabelle are overdone but the other 3 are lovely! |
To those saying Charlotte and/or Evelyn are "dated"... I think there's a difference between "dated" and "classic", and I think those names are the latter. Both have been widely recognized and used as names for generations (or according to my research, centuries -- since the 1800s), so they seem timeless rather than firmly associated with one decade or another, which is how I define something as "dated".
