At long last. A GAG order for trump

Anonymous
Did this xxx intentionally choose to attack the judge’s family because that wasn’t spelled out in the order? Am I reading this wrong or is it all about counsel, staff, witnesses and jurors? I hope I’m wrong. Throw the book at him please.

'The order bars Trump from commenting or causing others to comment on potential witnesses in the case, prospective jurors, court staff, lawyers in the district attorney's office and the relatives of any counsel or court staffer. He is allowed to criticize Bragg himself, as well as Merchan.'

"Merchan’s gag order is purposely tailored to protect Trump’s First Amendment rights, and does not specifically forbid the ex-POTUS from saying whatever he pleases about Manhatann District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Merchan, or their families."

If Merchan's daughter receives threats then I hope an addendum to the original gag order is issued. I don't see how this would affect Trump's 1st amendment rights.

Disregard. I’ll get another cup of coffee.

Prediction. 1st offense, a huge fine. 2nd offense, straight to Jail.

Ah yes, jail the opposition. When exactly did we become a banana republic?

Trump is not Judge Marchan’s opposition.

New York would be a lot better off if its judges spent their efforts putting violent criminals behind bars rather than trying to muzzle prominent politicians they don’t like.

His rants destroy innocent workers' lives. It has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with safety for the court workers, jurors and prosecutors. They need to do their jobs without fear that whack jobs from Utah will threaten them and gather outside their homes with assault weapons. Many people the Orange POS has targeted have had their lives upended because of his crazy attacks on them simply for doing their jobs or in the case of jurors, their patriotic duty.

The only whack job I can think of in recent years who did the things you are describing was James Hodgkinson, who thought it would be a good idea to murder Republican congressmen at baseball practice.

You’re forgetting about the MAGA bomber, and Paul Pelosi, and January 6, and the guy who attacked the FBI field office in Cincinnati the day of the Mar A Lago search warrant, and every prosecutor and election worker who has needed extra security over the last eight years, and Mitt Romney and every member of Congress who voted to impeach Trump. Just off the top of my head.

Which maga bomber? The one who planted their bomb very close to the DNC (but as fara away from the RNC as possible while still being able to say it was there) or Cesar Sayoc?

Or maybe your garden variety Republican? “But nearly three times as many Republicans as Democrats approve of political violence, according to a November 2021 poll by the nonprofit Public Religion Research Institute.” https://newrepublic.com/article/168391/political-violence-is-republicans-problem

Or all the bozos on January 6th, but especially those who assaulted police officers.

Or James Alex Fields, Jr and the rest of the white supremacists across the country who commit violence and vote Republican.

I’m glad Trump has a gag order but what’s the point? He’s going to violate it and nothing will happen any of the times he does so.

In this case, the point is that when Trump talks about people involved in his court case, his followers become violent. When Trump badmouths witnesses, attorneys on the other side, judges, etc, those people get death threats and stalked or get swatted. Trump encourages violence.

If he didn't encourage violence and threats, then he wouldn't be gagged. He has a history of trying to intimidate his legal opponents and the judicial system with violence from his MAGA followers. So, the gag order is justified in this case.

I think statistics will show that the Trump-supporting regions of the country are a lot less violent than the places that don’t vote for him. Trump supporters are violent, so shut him up? Give me a break. His opponents can’t stand the fact that he can be very persuasive.

Oh, yes. All those redneck evangelicals that stormed the Capitol on Jan 6 were anything screaming "Hang Mike Pence," defecating in public spaces, murdering Capitol police were hardly law abiding. When MAGAS have their next uprising, I can only hope the police are armed and shoot to kill every last one of them

The only person murdered on January 6 was Ashli Babbitt.

Loren Merchan's work, including on Vice President Kamala Harris' 2020 presidential primary run and Joe Biden's 2020 presidential campaign, have drawn criticism from Trump, who claims Judge Merchan is a 'Trump hater'

His lawyers are allowed to ask to get a new judge assigned on that basis. He is not allowed to discuss her.

How is stating that the judge’s daughter worked for democrats a threat?

Loren Merchan, the 34-year-old daughter of the Manhattan judge, is partner and president of Authentic Campaigns, a progressive digital firm, and worked on several high-profile Democratic campaigns – including for President Joe Biden.

Why not? Because her dad said she is off limits? She is not a minor. Why is an adult who is the daughter of the judge and makes her money- millions of dollars from working with democrats, and posted a picture of Trump behind bars- not allowed to be discussed?
