Math 4 at that time would have been primarily taken by sophomores from the last class to be admitted BEFORE the admissions process changes.

It's worth noting that the Class of 2024 is an exceptional class that is enjoying some outstanding college outcomes - but that email refers to their efforts and not the efforts of students who were selected by the new process. Unless they were significantly advanced - in which case, they're probably not the subject of people's anger here.

Email is referring specifically to students selected by new process. Sure not all of them, and certainly not the top half of them. It is the bottom half that the math teachers are referring to that the new essay lottery process allowed without merit evaluation.

You seem to be confused. The new process is all about merit. It selects the very top kids from each school. It was the old process that lacked merit since people just bought the test answers.

No. It’s not. 2021-2022 year was the first year (or freshman year) of the new admission system. RS and Math 3 is where most TJ kids start for their first year - that is the track they are on if they did algebra in 7th. That means Math 4 kids would have been primarily sophomores (old system) or kids tripled advanced who had taken algebra in 6th. It would not have been the “new wave” of less traditional MS kids and kids who took algebra in 8th.

The school is so much less toxic now and a healthier environment for learning.

sure. All bottom schools in FCPS with lower rigor are much less toxic compared to top schools?

DP. Toxicity has nothing to do with "top" or "bottom" schools. Maybe you know that but don't care, maybe you don't know that.

TJ math teachers had concerns that the math test in old system was no where nearly rigorous enough to evaluate qualified stem applicants. But back then equity called for making the test easier to let in kids from bottom schools. Even after making the test easier, it was still a challenge for the bottom school kids, since the quality of math classes offer there was third-rate watered down.

Now with new admissions eliminating the test altogether, TJ math teachers are giving up and resigning.

No wories. There will be new teachers to replace them.

My DD is surprised why she was even offered when all she did was algebra 1, and her best friend with two years advanced math at another school was put on waiting list. Not wanting to be at the bottom of the class, she rightfully declined. She is more worried about herself, as she should be, than worrying about her schoolmates.

Even worse if she saw kids from her same school with more advanced courses and more STEM loving were in the wait pool or rejected. That’s happening in this lottery system.

Zero evidence it is a “lottery.” Stop lying.

And what is your agenda anyway? Sour grapes??

but TJ especially since all the parents who were buying tests for their kids are elsewhere
sure. All bottom schools in FCPS with lower rigor are much less toxic compared to top schools?

Yes, I was happier with the old system where you could just buy the test.

The yapping toy puppy goes buy the test, buy the test, all through the town?
