The spring 2022 math email- at that time would the majority of kids taking math 4 been juniors? Or was math 4 (at that time/pre-admission change) mostly taken by sophomores at that time?

Lottery? Why do posters keep referring to a “lottery” (ie - random selection) as part of the TJ selection process?

DD decided to stay at his base school after hearing from multiple channels that the culture among the schoolmates at TJ is toxic.

RS and Math 3 is where most TJ kids start for their first year - that is the track they are on if they did algebra in 7th. That means Math 4 kids would have been primarily sophomores (old system) or kids tripled advanced who had taken algebra in 6th. It would not have been the “new wave” of less traditional MS kids and kids who took algebra in 8th.

My DD is surprised why she was even offered when all she did was algebra 1, and her best friend with two years advanced math at another school was put on waiting list. Not wanting to be at the bottom of the class, she rightfully declined. She is more worried about herself, as she should be, than worrying about her schoolmates.

Even worse if she saw kids from her same school with more advanced courses and more STEM loving were in the wait pool or rejected. That’s happening in this lottery system.
