Lots of studies have demonstrated that long-term pot use has permanent effects on developing brains, including lowering IQ by an average of 10 points, short-term memory loss, and more. You should google these studies. The best studies follow the same kids overt the years, as opposed to studies that compare two different groups of kids who could be different for other reasons

I’d have no problem with my kids doing pot once they’re over 25. But while they’re teens, no way, that’s parental abdication of responsibility.

over 25? you literally have no control over what they do once they are 18/out of the house.....

Who said we have control? But it is your responsibility to get the message across to your kid about the damage pot can do to maturing brains. Your teen can ignore you, but you should try.

Or you can be my Ex and smoke pot with your college-age son. DS now says he was addicted to pot last Spring.

Don’t be my Ex.

Well sure- just like long term use of alcohol is horrific for a developing brain. Given a choice of Kids expirememting with alcohol or marijuana I’d choose marijuana each time.

There is no way to vape and not look like a douche while doing it

You are wrong here. You have to imbibe every day in large quantities for alcohol to cause brain damage. Just a little bit of pot can forever alter a teenage brain, lowering IQ significantly. Pot not only damages your brain, it also damages your lungs. Its a two-fer. I dont want my kids drinking either but pot is worse in small doses.

1) Same thing as smoking.
2) Illegal if you're 16
3) Can get your dumb ass kicked out of sports
4) Cant be worth damn at sports if you're a smoker

Are you talking about the study that followed daily users who used "excessively" for three straight years? I mean, I agree, thats bad for you. Can you cite the bolded? And it isn't like alcohol is "good" for the stomach, esophagus, etc. I eat marijuana these days in the form of edibles that are controlled for dose. No lungs involved.

Sorry if this has been covered - can you smell gaping on the user during or after use?

My son attends a close in DC suburban school and has been telling me about Juuling for about 6 months, I had no idea it had nicotine I thought it was like a hooka. He says at his school the bathrooms are full of the white kids juuling. Thanks for this thread and the information I was blowing it off as a harmless teenage fad.

Smoking hookah exposes you to way more nicotine than one cigarette. It's more like smoking one pack of cigarettes at a time. The shisha tobacco definitely has nicotine, and you smoke that stuff for 1/2 hour to an hour...

Anything that anyone is inhaling is going to be dangerous to some extent. Just different levels of risk.

I think vaping is relatively harmless. My issue with it is it looks stupid. Big, honking vape pipes, huge clouds of vapor, etc.
