Accidentally ate undercooked burger :(. Terrified.

Drink some cranberry juice. Use vinegar on your salads. These help get rid of some bacteria. It can't hurt.

Pink is not raw. To cook it to be pink it got hot enough to kill bacteria.

I ate medium and medium rare burgers during both of my pregnancies. Also soft cheese, runny eggs and occasional glasses of wine. Both kids are fine.

OP, I ate medium steak and hamburgers all through my pregnancy with DC1 (cannot look at any meat with DC2, even at 6 months pregnant) and it was fine. In fact, at one point, I was anemic and so eating steak rare (before I was diagnosed and given iron supplement).

Chances of anything happening are miniscule. Look back at our parents' generation - not only did they eat undercooked meat, they ate coldcuts, soft cheese and even (depending on the parent) smoked and drunk regularly. And yet plenty of people were born back in those days, and most of them absolutely fine. I am not saying this to claim it's good to drink/smoke/eat meat that's not even cooked when pregnant, but to try to calm down your anxiety - even if you were much less careful than you are, you have bigger chances of being hit by one of the reckless DC-area drivers than you are of damaging your baby through that burger.

For your anxiety - I know you can't take meds due to pregnancy, but maybe a therapist and also relaxing exercises like yoga and meditation may help.

OP it's not true you can't take medication. I take Zoloft during pregnancy and it helps immensely. I developed post partum anxiety after my first baby and went off meds when ttc and ended up back on them at 14 weeks. Zoloft and Prozac are both very well studied as safe during pregnancy and it's much worse for your baby to be exposed to the kind of anxiety you're living with than a safe anti anxiety SSRI

On a side note, food wise you are super cautious. But this amount of anxiety isn't healthy. For anyone.

Holy crap. Yes.

Your anxiety level is so high over something so small, OP, it can't be good for the baby. My recommendation is relax, deep breaths, stay off Dr. Google, take a warm bath and have a glass of wine. You and your baby will be fine, much better than you are now.

99.9% chance you will be fine. I got food poisoning while pregnant and baby was fine and is now a healthy 7 year old.

Chances are much better than this that you will be fine.

She'd probably commit suicide after the wine.

Being raised by someone who is clearly mentally ill and not treated for it is bad for a child. You need a realistic plan.

You are more likely to have a miscarriage due to your over the top stress level than to what you ate. Get your therapist to give you meds safe for pregnant women.

OMG she sounds absolutely crazy, over the top. That is the worst thing for baby.

OP you need to get on top of your anxiety. I have an anxiety disorder too. Get CBT ASAP!

And I you need to learn to laugh at yourself too.

Most of these responses are very insensitive. Did you read that she does see a therapist? That she has told her doctor? Anxiety is not always easily treatable.
