Is it okay for a teacher to kiss a student on the face?

I reiterated that our body is our private space and no one is allowed to touch us without our permission and that no one at school should be asking to do so.

WHY DO POSTER NOT INCLUDED RELEVANT INFORMATION FROM THE START! There are a couple of post recently that leave out very important information. Wonder if it is the same person.

This is the only thread I've started. I don't want to include too much info because it disturbs me and I don't want it to be identifiable. I'm guessing people would have given more vehement responses if I included some of the other red flags about the situation but just knowing that the kisses in and of themselves are no considered normal by the majority is all I need to know.

OP what are you doing next?

Really not sure if I need to talk to the teacher or to the administration or just leave it alone.

It's inappropriate and kissing spreads germs

Depends whether you or you're are comfortable enough.

I think it's really really sad when a teacher can't kiss a 7 yr old on the cheek without crossing some arbitrary and made up boundary. It's like you guys don't realize that for some kids that's the only affection they get. I know because I was one of them. I like bed it when my first grade or second grade teacher gave me a random know as on the cheek. You people are nuts.

I wouldn't Take anything a second grader says as gospel. How does one he kid know no one can see them? He does the kid know no one else gets kissed? They don't know and this is how good people have their reputations ruined. Make damn sure it is the way your kid says before doing anything.

I think that is very weird and unprofessional of that teacher. I would make damned sure that this is really happening (2nd graders have vivid imaginations and sometimes tell tales - be aware of that), make sure that you have all of the details - when this happened, why the teacher and your daughter were alone together, why this took place where no one else could see it and from there I would ask to speak to an authority at that school.

If it's your daughter and the teacher is also a female then it's fine.

Is your child super well behaved?

The teacher could just love your child to bits for being the sweetest little thing who always pays attention and helps others as to opposed to a heathen like some of the other children.

I agree with this.

Whether the teacher just thinks your daughter is adorable enough to kiss is not the point. No matter what her motives might be - a teacher waiting to get a child alone to give her a kiss on the face is teaching that child a dangerous message. Namely, that it is o.k. for a trusted adult to get the child alone and kiss her.

This might be the world's sweetest teacher but she is misguided and Op is right to be uncomfortable with this. It is o.k. to bring it up. Not to suggest that the teacher is a weirdo or a pervert but her actions do have safety implications for Op's daughter.

Op...if they are both female I wouldn't worry as much. If they are both male I would be worried and take it up to the next level.

When I was first reading this I thought no big deal. My son's 2nd grade teacher is constantly being hugged by kids. I could see her kissing them on the forehead. I also have a neighbor that kisses EVERYONE!!

After OP last response I would worry a little. It is odd that she doesn't give them all kisses...

Based on this report, the teacher could be kissing every student. We still don't understand the situation, OP. It could be fine, it could not be.
