I am honestly shocked it took that long for someone to mention the Duggar connection. Seriously- that's wayy too much of an association for me! |
Well, I agree with your MIL. I know someone who was given a nickname for his first name and hated it. He legally changed his first and last names as an adult. |
i love it. i know 1 baby Josie. (Josephine.) |
And her real name is Josie, not Josephine.... The Duggar connection was my first thought as well, although I still think it's a pretty name. |
I know two Josie's under 4. I have no idea whether they are the real name or nicknames. |
josie grossie! |
....and the pussy cats, long hair and ears for hats.....
Bad song. Bad name. |
I too immediately thought of the Duggar connection, and thus would never choose it (for that matter we've decided to forgo all "J" names for that reason). |
Wow, you're giving that one family a lot of power! |
I have a Josie - we've always called her Josie (and intended her) but gave her the full name (Josephine) on her birth certificate. We figure she can make the choice to use Josephine on business cards etc. when she's older. At 6 she's starting to be interested in experimenting with using her full name instead of the short one she's known all her life.
We still like the name a lot and don't come across too many others. I have no idea who the Duggars are so don't know the connection. Doubt it would bother me unless they are mass murderers ... ? |
Sorry, meant "intended to"! |
Agree about the nickname.
I knew a guy whose parents named him Chris instead of Christopher, and he was pretty bitter about it. |
I agree. |
Know 2 babies named that, both nicknames. Agree it's too cutesy for an adult. |
Really the only name that should be tossed out because of the Duggar connection is Jinger, and that's an abomination anyway. Oh, and also Jim Bob. But Josie? Jennifer? Jill? Jason? At least half of the names they've used are fine, normal, and common enough that only someone REALLY Duggar-obsessed would automatically go there. |
