+1

It’s common. Leave him alone and let him die in peace, OP. Don’t make it about you. He’s 90 freaking 3.

Jesus. Doing this at 93 isn’t “giving up.”

Most people would give up at 93. Can you blame him? Let him go.

He may have decided it’s time.

With my grandmother, we ran around trying to find foods she craved. Later, I learned that those cravings can be part of the end of life.

My parent with dementia went through phases of eating and not eating.

He recognizes us and wants to engage, but is so weak. We'll try ice cream and see if he likes that.
He's in no pain, thank goodness.
Thank you all so, so much.

OP, I'm sorry, I know it's hard and concerning. Honestly...my Dad was like this the last few weeks, and he passed away last Saturday. It's sort of the body doing its thing at the end.

I'd defenitely have his urine checked for UTI (because this is treatable)-but in the meanwhile, visit as much as you can and bring him as much ice cream, ect as he wants. My dad enjoyed ice cream and M&M's and we brought them daily for the last few weeks. I treasure a pic I took of him happily eating the candy!

Again, I'm sorry OP.
