WF is definitely weaker academically than Tulane. Of the three, Emory is the top. But Tulane is way better than Wake.

You’re basing this on … what?

No. Tulane is a party school. WF is rigorous academically.

Seems like Emory is the clear winner due to the relationship with the CDC and wanting to study "the sciences"...though I guess it is unclear what is meant by the sciences.

Also, for all the crying about why Wake and Tulane tanked in the latest rankings...they tanked, while Emory wasn't impacted in the slightest yet they are peer schools.

The difference between Emory and Wake isn’t that great, prior to the dei rankings, they were within 10 of one another. Emory does do an excellent job with dei, they take a lot of Questbridge kids and are probably the most diverse. Wake is the only one of the three which will have small classes from day 1.

I’d say Emory for a studious introverted kid and Wake for a work hard/ play hard kid.

Emory is in one of the most vibrant cities in the county. Some of you don't understand the dynamics of a city school vs a college town school.

Better how? For whom? No one can credibly say Emory is flatly “better”. My DS was looking at a top 25 SLAC and a college that’s not even in the national rankings, it’s in the regional rankings (most people have probably at least heard of it). He prefers the latter. Wouldn’t be my personal choice, but I’ve long ago taken my last college class. I have zero issue with letting him go there. The important thing is he’s at a place where he’s happy and excited to learn. Don’t force a square peg into a round hole for perceived prestige. Especially among these three colleges. In the greater scheme of things, prestige is comparable among them. The DCUM crowd pretends to possess absolute truth about where colleges should be “ranked”, but it’s false knowledge.

One is prestigious and the others aren't. Guess which is which.

Will your kid rush? Wake is 60% Greek and can be socially isolating especially for boys who aren’t in the Greek system.

Name recognition with the general public is different than name recognition with the nation's elite.

They are far from peer schools, Emory's peer reputation score is 4.2, while Wake's is 3.5, and Tulane 3.3. A 4.2 means 20% of respondents give Emory a perfect 5/5 score, the other 4.2's are Rice, WashU, Georgetown etc.

Wake is not 60 percent Greek. Only 30 percent of men are in fraternities, it’s sorority participation that is close to 60 percent.

For the past three decades, Emory and Wake were ranked within 10 of each other. Emory does well in the new rankings because it is diverse and has a lot of Questbridge kids. No secret that Wake needs to work on diversity. I guess Emory also wasn’t hurt by them removing average class size and alumni giving metrics like Wake was. Not many national universities have no intro classes over 50 kids and an average class size around 20 for freshman.

In any case, at our private, Wake is more popular because it offers rigorous academics plus school spirit, competitive ACC teams and a great social life. The rigor and gpa of kids going to Emory and Wake are similar at our school.

Emory has best rep. Good rep as "Ivy reject" school. Like Tufts and Wash U.
