Always the pitch, never the reality. Every election there is bond issue after bond issue. Always for the laudable projects you mention. If those are paid by regular taxes why more borrowing? You never see a bond issue for bigger more gas-guzzling vehicles, fancier offices, bloated staff, and obvious vote-buying programs. But they certainly get a lot of funding. |
There has been zero private sector job growth in Montgomery County over the last decade and it gets worse than that, because while the total number of private sector jobs has stayed the same, the number of retail hospitality jobs has increased and the number of white collar jobs has decreased. The largest employers in Montgomery County are the county and Federal government. |
