Ugh... Maryland Dems looking to mug residentsagain. Dems want to increase income taxes across the state.

The legislative session just ended, and this did not happen. I don't think it even got a floor vote.

Now- that being said, ever since they passed Kirwin- tax increases are coming. There's no way around it, once they passed the largest unfunded mandate in state history. I imagine it will be next year.

If you're unhappy move to VA.

Could the Kirwan plan and tax increases be repealed?

I don't see any world where Kirwin gets repealed, no way.

Hogan veto-ed it, but that veto was instantly overridden by the Democrat supermajority. And I can't see them backing off now.

So assume it's happening- and assume a tax increase is coming to pay for it.

That was obvious from day one, and its just a matter of "when", not "if"

Just like all of the businesses are? What a winning strategy you there MD! Make businesses flee and then your highest taxpaying individuals. Can't wait until you're a failed nanny state where 80% of the population is poor and needs govt handouts.

Contrary to the doom narrative here, Maryland is one of the wealthiest and most educated states in the entire country.

+1 We are probably going to move to VA in our retirement. I would be fine retiring in HoCo or Frederick, but we aren't that wealthy, and that county 3.x% tax could be used for medical bills.

They can't grow the economy. They can't foster an environment conducive to bringing in businesses and more jobs.

It's never a spending problem of course. They'll argue it is your civic duty to pay more taxes to 'improve' the area around you.

I wonder how many more 6 figure+ state govt jobs they'll invent once they get their cash grab through.

No wonder why VA continues to eat MD's lunch. Progressives are destroying the state's economy and budget and have no other ideas except to constantly raise taxes.

If we don't tax or spend, we end up last in everything. And it's the GOP who slashes tax rates for the wealthy that then never trickles down to the rest (Reagan, Bush, Bush, Trump). Dems grow the middle, clean up deficits left by their predecessors, invest in America and her people, and make more money for the 95%, not the top 5%

Businesses aren’t fleeing to nova. The job stats show that nova has anemic job growth while the major job growth is happening around Richmond. Why do you think youngkin was so desperate to bring the sports teams to nova? Amazon hasn’t panned out to what it was supposed to be, and businesses aren’t coming to nova anymore.

Every county hates it but Baltimore City loves it because it basically is a school funding transfer from the rest of the state to the city. I would support it if it also came with a state takeover of schools like what happened with Baltimore police.

In Maryland, Democrats have absolutely destroyed the middle class. The rich are still rich but everyone else has gotten poorer. And it’s the middle class that pays the taxes for everything but they get zero benefits. Just crappier and more over crowded schools, more congested roads with more potholes, and higher taxes.

Ha. Haha. Hahahhahahaha

Now go look up the deficits for CA, IL, and NY.

Lmao, you're a side splitter. CA's deficit is MASSIVE. So is IL's.

I think it just will end up being perpetually underfunded. They've already raised the easy revenue to pay for it. I don't think they will have the stomach to fully fund it after 2026
