Ugh... Maryland Dems looking to mug residentsagain. Dems want to increase income taxes across the state.

Gee, what a surprise - just your typical tax and spending Dems with no solutions other than to keep increasing taxes:

https://taxfoundation.org/blog/maryland-local-income-tax-reform/

They can't grow the economy. They can't foster an environment conducive to bringing in businesses and more jobs.

It's never a spending problem of course. They'll argue it is your civic duty to pay more taxes to 'improve' the area around you.

I wonder how many more 6 figure+ state govt jobs they'll invent once they get their cash grab through.

No wonder why VA continues to eat MD's lunch. Progressives are destroying the state's economy and budget and have no other ideas except to constantly raise taxes.

But the revenue raised will to fund basic services needed by many people in a growing Maryland.

Don’t you want to support basic services, like schools, roads, and fire departments ?

But the "basic" of ten years ago isn't the "basic" of today. It has come to include an ever-growing number of expensive "necessities."

Funny how VA Republicans constantly whine about how bad MD is, while Marylanders are busy enjoying their lives.

Envious?

"If adopted, the legislation would raise the maximum top local income tax rate from 3.2 percent to 3.7 percent beginning in 2026 and allow counties to impose this rate on taxable income
of $250,000 or above for single filers ($300,000 or above for married individuals filing joint returns)"

This is a progressive income tax befitting a modern civilization. Main flaw is that it's local not statewide.

Maryland was embarrassed about being affluent, not it wants to be poor and will get its wish soon enough.

Taxes keep going up but the quality of schools and infrastructure keeps declining. Who wants to catch this falling knife?

Gas lighting lie of the week!

It amazes me that people don’t understand that Federal and state budgets are very different things. It’s like the liberal equivalent of republicans equating balancing one’s chequebook with the federal budget deficit.

This is a pretty stupid policy proposal considering that the Senate race is contested this year.

Envious of higher crime, lower private sector job growth, greater tax burdens, a stagnant economy, and the albatross that’s Baltimore?

Uh, no. We are not envious.

no I want the 0.5% in my pocket. I pay enough for our schools that I have never once utilized.

No, Maryland is not growing. And MoCo is the worst. It is falling behind its peers in multiple indices.

They don't care, you all will NEVER vote them out. The only thing that would stop them from enacting this is the threat of losing. That threat doesn't exist for them so why would they care?

Yes, plus many giveaways to certain pet groups. It’s disgusting.
