This is a signal that they are not planning to do that.

They are going through the motions. Felder is it.

While I don't put this past the BOE, I really hope this isn't the case. I have not been impressed with her at all.

She's not bad, but she's just there.

I know she's all into this student code of conduct and improving safety and discipline in schools. That's so inequitable.

I actually wish she WAS into those things. I've yet to see her take any meaningful action that would make me think she's serious about improving in those areas.

Yesterday's email indicates it's a big priority of hers.

You think emails are how change happens? How many emails did McKnight espousing the same things with no actions to back up those empty words and promises?

I'd encourage my fellow parents to resist those voices. If Central Office or BoE messes up, call them on it. But if they do something good, let's not just fall into cynical patterns because it's fun to be snarky on the internet.

This is our kids' education we are talking about - and if the BoE has decided to take more responsibility and break out of old, bad, passive, patterns, that's good.

The BOE's primary job function is to hire, supervise, and as needed, fire a superintendent. I would prefer that the BOE utilize competitive and open procurement practices and utilize a search firm that has connections into the potential pool of superintendent candidates, instead of a firm that was a quick hire through a bridge contract that has NO experience hiring superintendents into school districts.

There may be some good individuals on this board, but as a group, sorry, they are a fail. This is our kids' educations we are talking about.

Not true. I saw that they have done district superintendent searches in Massachusetts, Kentucky, and Louisiana, as well as state superintendent in Maryland.

Compare them side by side. McKnight’s version makes no mention of discipline or any consequences. It is 100 percent relying on the farce that all infractions can be proactively prevented. Of course it’s important to work to prevent incidents of all kinds, but it’s unrealistic to just wave a hand and assume nothing will ever happen.

Sounds just like Hazard Young's last three searches for MCPS.

She's interim, joining more than halfway through a school year. What are you expecting, Moses parting the Red Sea?

What made you think I expected her to part the Red Sea? I'm not impressed by what I've seen of her. Is that a crime?

Hi anonymous person, you have no idea what interactions I've had with her. Why are you badgering me about the fact that I'm not impressed by her? Is that you, Dr. Felder?
