Cars aren't meant to be driven in deep water. What do you suggest?

I’m not an engineer, but surely someone could come up with something. For example, if there’s a sun roof, make sure it’s big enough for a human to fit through and make sure it can slide open under water and works while submerged. Water pressure shouldn’t affect something horizontal, I’m thinking.

Can you open a Tesla door manually, with no fingerprints/electric capacity needed? The few times I’ve ridden in a Tesla I was confused about how to open the dang doors.

The Tesla has an emergency release open for the doors, but water pressure could prevent it from opening. That can happen with any car submerged in water. I’ve heard that you’re supposed to crack open a window before it gets submerged.

Gear shift on the screen is one of those unnecessary things that results from tech fetishization.

It’s dark and water is rapidly rising inside and outside the car. They have done demonstrations on tv on how difficult it is to extricate oneself from this situation. If the electronics malfunction, the only way out would be to break a window. Sound like they tried that but were unable to in time. Terrifying and tragic.

You need to roll down the electric windows within seconds but it seems counter-intuitive so people don’t.

That was a gruesome read. How terrible. I can't get over the fact that she knew she was dying and couldn't get out. What a tragedy.

Interesting article here says the Tesla glass was reinforced so that it was too strong to break.

“ Due to the type of strengthened glass used in the Model X's windows and sunroof, attempts to smash into the vehicle proved redundant. ”

I suspect it was hacked and would be suspicious of the person who said she's done this before but I'm not one to say mere tragedy is impossible in this case. The article said their family is the only one to have 4 girls finish Harvard's business school, which makes me think she's not the type to be wasted and mistaking gears.

She made the mistake before.

What was Mitch’s change of heart? I avoid reading about him so missed what he said at his announcement.

She made a fatal mistake driving that night instead of walking the short distance. Even billionaires with powerful in-laws make mistakes that can cause deadly results to themselves or others.

It’s a 4 minute drive. I’m not sure how long a walk that would be. Over a mile?

She is a Chinese American billionaire and does a lot of business with China.

I think owners of the same model will be able to attest to the likelihood
