Will America vote for Kamala Harris in 2024? This is the real question.

However, I don't think Harris is popular enough. I think that if Biden dropped out, Whitmer would be the primary contender to take the Democratic nomination and beat Nikki Haley (or Ron DeSantis). Other than Andy Beshear (who continues to claim he won't run), I think Whitmer is the strongest contender after Biden and Trump.

Is it that whitmer is a white woman. That’s the only reason she would be a contender over harris.

I'm the PP you are responding to. I happen to like Harris. And as an Asian American myself, I am proud that we have an Asian American woman serving as VP of the US. Unlike the other PP who responded earlier, I believe she's smart. What I don't think is that she is appropriately political, she is brash and often speaks before she thinks. She has qualities that made her a good litigator, which is how she made it up the chain to be a US Senator and not President of the Senate. That said, she has some of the same issues that make Trump and Biden bad candidates in that she is subject to verbal gaffes and she often speaks before she thinks. She also has more legislative experience than executives. There is a reason that for most of the US history, that governors make better Presidents than Congressmen or Senators because legislative experience is not a good measure of executive performance. The two branches of government work differently and the skills to work effectively in the legislative branch do not always convey to working effectively in the executive branch.

Whitmer is much more polished and better at public speaking and presentations. She has more executive experience and she has far better management skills.

If you are going to try to cast my views as racist, I'll also say that I would consider Michelle Lujan-Grisham to be very similar in experience and capability to Whitmer. In fact, with her Congressional experience, she is arguably stronger. However, Whitmer has national name recognition and she has made national headlines both for her work in leading the very purple state and for the domestic terrorist exposure on her, than Lujan-Grisham, who has much more limited national name-recognition.

Or it could be the fact that Harris is an idiot.

Right wing media bashing aside (anything Fox, WSJ, NY Post, etc.), Harris would be better than ANY Republican.

OMG. I actually laughed out loud. It's a shame you're not aware of how the VAST majority of Democrats feel. No one wants Biden, much less Harris.

But the majority of Dems, and the well educated Americans. HATE Trump. Also, a majority of American women are pissed off as Hell about abortion rights and WE VOTE !

I’m a nonwhite woman. I think both are true - a woman can win, but not a woman AND a minority. One or the other. And I honestly don’t care. I am fine with this being the state of the world for now, progress is incremental.

I also agree that Harris is a quintessential diversity hire who is not a substantively good candidate and has been a huge disappointment. I don’t want her to be president.

If Biden was 56 years ole, it would be irrelevant. But the guy is in his 80's. His chance of dying or becoming incapacitated during a second term is sky high. Which means who his VP is, is extremely relevant.

Harris was fine when Biden was in his 70s and is also fine when Biden is in his 80s. Particularly compared to whichever knobslobberer that Trump is going to pick.

NP - I don't think that a minority cannot win. I think politics comes into play and it's all a game. Harris won that VP game and got herself into the office. She is an absolute 10000% idiot who was good enough to get selected because Biden was just playing politics in selecting a minority female to run with. In terms of actually being able to do anything I almost think she is as bad as Trump. Trump is nuts but Harris is just a complete wreck.

As Chanel said - Sin can be forgiven but stupidity is forever or something like that.. Harris is just a wreck. I mean as much as I think Biden is a wreck, he makes her look great. I don't think Trump even makes the cut for consideration of course, but still, just because he is horrid does not make her any better. She is just as horrid just in different ways.

I cannot believe she is the sitting VP. It sums up how messed up Dems are.

Sorry - I digress - I was suggesting that I believe a minority female can win. First off, the field is weaker than weak. Bleak I would say! For Dems anyway. The other thing is, if you position yourself and play the game the right way, there's no reason in our current times, a woman can't win. In terms of minority - that's a huge advantage are you kidding? Depends on the ethnicity of course - African American probably tops over Middle Eastern, Asian, etc. but my point is - a black woman can absolutely win. They would have to be uber smart, seriously ambitious with a perfect resume and background, totally charming and charismatic but yeah, I don't think it would be a problem.

I just don't know who would want this job and who fits this bill!!

DP. I disagree. If Nikki Haley were to win the nomination, she would win in a heartbeat. She is actually a person of substance and accomplishments, unlike Kamala Harris.

Diversity hire? Harris has been an ELECTED official - in a state with a 6% black population. And she'll be a two-term VP. And...maybe president one day.

You can start gnashing your teeth now.

You offered no serious criticism. You just said she’s an idiot, when she is more intelligent and more accomplished and more qualified than any of the Republican Presidential candidates who offer nothing but idiotic nonsense, ridiculous lies, and imaginary culture war grievances. With all of your delusional clowns in the House, Senate, and Red State Governors, Republicans can’t call anyone an idiot, yet it is the only thing you ever say about Black women, no matter how accomplished they are.

Haley won't win the nomination: she's beholden to Trump like the rest of the GOP sycophants. She doesn't have the character to stand up to a fascist, and has "as-the-wind-blows" convictions. Trump won't even pick her as VP. If she were to get picked, VP Harris would wipe the floor with Haley in a VP debate. Beating up on Ramaswamy is a very low bar.
