why are people so angry on this board?

Anonymous
Because it's anonymous and a way to blow off steam. It's an effective vehicle for women to vent their anger without being confrontational in person.

Yep. There's always one douchebag that wants to ruin the party and get all PC on our asses. I love sarcasm and a dirty, edgy sense of humor. I know there is at least one of u out there that gets it because I always get at least one "lol' shout out...amongst the pc d-bags with zero sense of humor.

You know when you encounter someone like this they will inevitably veer into ugly, hateful "humor," but call them on it, and you're the one with the problem. They're just "edgy."

The asshat poster isn't funny anymore. Nothing is really funny after say, the third (or in that case 300th) time.

my choice of comedians:
the late george carlin,
Chris rock,
Richard pryor,
bill mahr,
Chelsea handler,
Dennis miller from the earlier years...

I'm going to guess your favorite comedians are not found on the premium channels. Telling funny jokes does not make one a racist.

it wasn't funny the first time. Carolyn Hax always used that term as early as the late 90s/2000 and I could never stand it!

People make some pretty weird, smug, self righteous, and judgemental statements here because its anonymous. I honestly do not have strong feelings on any of the hot button issues but I can't stand crappy logic or smug attitudes. I find myself more compelled to call this stuff out based on the poster's attitude or poor argument than the actual issue.

I'll argue with a co-sleeper saying its cruel and inhumane to let a baby cry it out and that you are harming the child for life. I actually co-slept with both my kids, a detail I will leave it, but just can't stand the annoying attitude that it is the only way to raise your kids.

I get annoyed with ding-a-lings that post links to blogs as scientific evidence and fact to support their position. If you're citing a blog as your prime source, you have problems.

I get annoyed when people misrepresent the law on the nanny threads. No, it is not illegal to ask your nanny for identification that she is authorized to work in the US, in fact you must do this to legally hire her and complete the tax forms. No, it is not illegal to have a nanny cam. No, it is not illegal to not pay for extra snow days. You can advocate for or against these things, no problem there, but don't try to make up laws.

You left Dave Chappelle off the list, Margaret Cho and sometimes Sarah Silverman, although she can grate. And it breaks my heart to see what Dennis Miller's become over the years. They're hilarious. But their humor has a point. What makes it funny is that it's about something, it takes aim at sacred cows. They're not just calling names for the hell of it then getting petulant when they're called on it.

I third this. The sleep debates drive me crazy. To be honest we did neither CIO or co-sleeping and ended up with a decent sleeper. I think both can be extreme and both and I'm sure both are useful. I hate that people take such a silly stand on that, as if any of us know what it is like to deal with night patterns of anyone but our own kids.

And I truly dislike the "quotes" poster(s), who chooses to "emphasize" - shall we say - and then "add" stupid phrases, if you will, to "try" to make, be that it were, "some sort" of point that can not possibly be "interpreted" because you are stumbling over their "phrasing."

Speaking of mean, I hate Carolyn Hax. Her writing style is convoluted.

I often wish the people who come here and act like assholes "just to blow off steam" could find some less annoying way to vent. Go kick a puppy, drown a kitten, or poop in your neighbor's yard. Just because you've had a bad day doesn't mean I get to be your punching bag.

Anonymously "punching" a DCUM poster is much less offensive than, say, kicking a puppy or drowning a kitten.
