Do we still have to pretend that Republicans aren’t fascist?

Why have these people not been detained and shipped off the GITMO?

This is sedition, pure and simple. John Eastman, Donald Trump, and everyone else involved need to be charged and hauled into court. Immediately. If we don't make an example now it's *going* to happen again, next time by someone more competent.

Let’s be honest, it wouldn’t have made a difference in the second impeachment. Trump himself could have been a witness in the 2nd impeachment and told the step by step his plans for the coup and the vast majority of R’s would have voted in favor of him.

yep - and also it was all so obvious and the people who told us it wasn't happening were clearly lying and AIEJHRNLWIEUHFLE

Yeah. I'm the PP that said this is jaw-dropping but I'm not sure it matters. I don't think Merrick Garland charging people with crimes would make a difference either.

The GOP isn't really a political party anymore. It's a populist movement and doesn't intend to be constrained by law, procedure, or norms.

“Populist” still has connotations of hard jawed, straight thinking, honest people who just buck the system. They’re not that. The GOP has never been that. Call them authoritarian or fascist, but they left “populism” in the dust.

They are a cult. A fascist leaning death cult. That worships a golden pig. (No offense to pigs, who are actually clean, smart, sensitive beings unlike Twitler.)

This is the playbook for 2022 and 2024 elections. Our country is not doing well.

Nope, if the Senate doesn't close the gaps in the law, the republic will end in 2024.

Curious here, is there any objective way that folks could look at Mike Pence as a human being that clearly has zero interest in this farce? Or do we have to continue hearing "mother" and that he's less of a man and subhuman.

What if I think he's a terrible person who is bad at governing and supports destructive policies, AND I think he had zero interest in this farce? So, tip o' the hat for not embracing the destruction of our Republic, and I hope he never enjoys any political success whatsoever in the future.

Did you read the Dan Quayle thread?

Mike Pence is apparently an extremely persuadable person who will do whatever anyone tells him to do. Trump told him to do this and he tried to figure out how to do it. He asked Dan Quayle how to do it and Quayle told he couldn't. So he didn't.

It took Dan Quayle talking him out of it. He had interest.
