I am sick and tired of the baby boomers.

I used to make fun of my grandmother for all the conservation practices she learned during the Depression but now I soo appreciate all those things.

Who paid for the Gen X's home they lived in growing up?
At what age did the GenX begin supporting themselves outside their parents' home - if, in fact, they have moved out yet (and stayed out)?
Who actually paid for their college and their clothing, food and shelter until they moved out?
How many GenX still receive stipends from their parents or guardians so they can make ends meet?
Who takes care of the GenX's grandparents or their kids while they chase the lifestyle they believe they deserve without working for it?
Who took up the mantle of freedom and equality during the 60s and 70s so that women and people of color could have the rights (in housing, business, schooling, etc.) they are granted by their creator?
Who fought in the courts for sexual harassment laws so that women wouldn't be forced to sleep with the boss to keep the job that paid for food and clothing for their kids?
What generation invented the technology GenX relies on for daily life?

Where is the gratitude? Really? Kick us to the curb?

Boomers I know paid for their own college/post high school training , worked full time and moved out of their parents' home by the age of 18. Whining wasn't an option; Boomers were on their own to make life work. Innovation and hard work was the order of the day, not condemnation and entitlement. Boomers devote much of their wealth and their time to making life better for others - for their parents, their kids, their grandkids and those less fortunate than they are. Sheesh-reality check.

And if GenX doesn't like the way things are, they should change them like Boomers did- without neglecting your own responsibilities.

I'm Gen X. I had academic scholarships to cover my college education. I sought them out and applied for them on my own. I had absolutely no assistance from my parents. They told me from a young age that I'd be on my own with college.

I spent my summers as a teenager watching my younger sibling full time while both my parents worked. I provided free child care, and it could be argued that I was contributing to my room and board as a 14 year old.

I worked through college to have spending money and savings. I lived on campus and took care of my own room and board. I had a job when I graduated from college and moved into a studio apartment.

I love my parents, but they had no idea how to find work in my field. So I was on my own in that regard.

I bought a house on my own. My parents never contributed money to my housing once I was past the age of 18.

As a teenager, I worked jobs -- from babysitting to jobs at the mall -- and paid for my own clothing.

And let me go further, baby boomers aren't the only ones who fight for the rights of others or make advancements in technology. You act as if those things are done. Gen X and -- gasp -- even millennials have contributed immensely to technology and to causes.

PP. you do realize that the only reason you accomplished what you did was because if how your parents raised you. You sound self righteous and ungrateful.

Every generation has an obligation to make the world better, and they rise to the occasion.

Instead of being bitter and nasty, prepare your defense to continue living in 50 years when the current generation of makers is ready to shoot you up with morphine and take you off the rolls of elderly takers. Your whiney blurb above would on,y get you a faster injection.

You should blame the republicans and their corporate welfare policies that have prevented appropriate taxation of the UBER RICH which has resulted in a truly stagnant economy in terms of earnings and savings for all of us (except the über rich). Read Picketty's book or watch Inequality for All to see what I'm talking about.

While this is true, it is older Americans who overwhelmingly vote Republican.

I cannot wait until all the old, racist, selfish Republicans in this country die.

As a member of the millennial generation- I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!

Especially their attitudes. I find the "tough love" old guard attitude of many boomers to be downright sickening in its selfishness and close-mindedness.

I must be really annoying as I can be labeled as a boomer or a Gen X. Can I just hang with the Millennials and smoke some weed?

Well, maybe you should just take a look at voting patterns.

All the millennials are going for Bernie. Whatever you think about him, that does show a strong support and commitment to community, to thinking of the world collectively and trying to care for the very least of us who may not have the means to care for themselves (I am not a Bernie supporter, just saying what I think he represents to voters)

On the other hand, many Gen Xers seem not to have changed things much from how the boomers did things. They kind of just shuffled into the same jobs, the same career trajectories, and now very similar voting patterns, all of which seem pretty individualistic and unconcerned with one's "fellow man".

So while I think Gen Xers might be marginally better than boomers, to me theyre really pretty similar. A lot of people thinking about what benefits them the most, kind of out of touch and unsympathetic towards others

This, folks, is what day care does to a kid. They grow up and don't see the value in anyone as they age.

Me, a boomer, will take care of my parents when necessary, until the day they die, just as we did for my mother-in-law and will-do for my father-in-law. Just as they did for me, my sister, and my brother. Because that is what good people do.

Carry on!

Wait, what? A baby boomer being smug and self-congratulatory? Get out of here! Don't believe it!

Damn straight. It's called pride. You'd have to actually do something besides blame others to know what it feels like though.

Were you actually raised by a loving parent instead of cast into group care at an age when bonding was critical, you might have learned how to selflessly give.

Unfortunately, our Veterans are learning too, what happens when the man ultimately in charge of their care is abandoned and passed around as a child. He too, doesn't learn how to bond, only to blame. And to cook the books so his numbers 'add up'.

Who cast us as toddlers into group care in the 70s? Who gave us as preteens our own set of house keys in the 80s? Whose divorce rates skyrocketed during these decades, furthering the need for all-day childcare and the epidemic of latchkey kids?

Once the Boomers quit puffing the magic dragon 24/7, their lifestyle became one of consumption, and their kids were handed over to strangers or left to fend for themselves.

I live in a grey area-- warm climate and big Boomer population. Their media is always harping on about identity theft. Because for Boomers, that is the biggest scare of modern life-- protecting what's theirs. Sick and selfish.

Not sure where you grew up or what your parents were like; but I'm a boomer, and nothing you've written here even remotely resembles my husband's and my marriage or how we raised our kids.

And, your post sounds quite entitled.
Kind of like saying, “I want it now. Give it to me. Even if I didn’t earn it.”

Rookie mistake.

Never eat a whole bar on your first go.

But don't worry... we won't do that to you!
