I am sick and tired of the baby boomers.

I was born in the early 70s, but I never got along with anyone my age. I have no idea what generation I embody.

We will never have the "social safety net" that they have lavished upon themselves and we will work longer and harder to bail out the financial mess their generation caused and perpetuated.

In addition, that generation refuses to fade away. The reason so many in our generation can't make partner at law firms or financial institutions is b/c these geezers refuse to retire and move on. They benefited from the "ponzi scheme" that is any law firm, consulting firm, etc., but the refuse to move along and let the gen x'ers move up and try to reap some of the same rewards. Disgraceful.

Why should we move along? I'm a 1963er. I earned my law firm partnership, and my kids are still in elementary and middle school. I have easily 10 years of kid related expenses yet. Your second paragraph above is simple jealousy and is plainly ridiculous. Try working harder.

THIS! Our 22 year old nanny, who comes from an upper middle class family, constantly bitches about how her husband works so hard at his 45 hour a week retail/sales job for 40K and not-so-subtely comments on how much we spend on things. Hello, DH works 80 hour weeks as a surgeon after years in school. Of course our household income in what it is. We worked our asses off for it!

Guess who is getting replaced by daycare in Jan? Can't wait to get rid of the little whiner!

Amen! You betcha.

OP, I am with you!!!! The baby boomers have wrecked this country, and now that they are becoming a huge senior citizen voting bloc, they're continuing on the same wretched path. I love how the geezers in Congress are all about "reforming" Medicare/Social Security by making sure that the boomers are grandfathered in, while younger generations will pay for boomer pensions and healthcare but have later retirement ages and lesser benefits themselves, if any at all. Hello...maybe your generation needs to tighten their belts as well!

This thread is unbelievable. I guess many of you are bitching about your own parents. Maybe you should ask them to share their cushy $20K a year in Social Security with you. Boo hoo.

I was born in 1960, putting me toward the end of the boomers, and I was in fourth grade when the 60s ended. I won't be able to retire for decades. I have a daughter in high school and modest income with no pension and just a 3% 401(k) match. The first election I could vote in put Reagan into office, and I sure didn't vote for him.

Get over yourselves, stop whining and start saving.

My mom and dad are both Feds. When they retire in a few years in their late 50s they will receive around 80+% of their salary for the rest of their lives. Then on top of that, they both get an extra $20K in SS? They don't need it. I'm paying for part of it--and I can barely afford to make ends meet because my Fed job was cut last year.

How is this fair to anybody?

Me too, I am tired of boomer greed and I blame them for the mess our country is in. What will happen when the aging, living longer boomers retire and shrinking tax base can't keep up with the cost of ss and medicaire. Telling me I can wait 10 more years for a partnership or better job just pisses me off!

I am a severely underemployed Boomer. I may never work in the profession I trained for again because I'm competing with all the entitled Gen Xers and Millenials.

The skills of the younger generation surpass the boomers expesically since the boomers still use old business processes and communications that are obsolete. So yes can't wait till you all go away.

How is this entitled

2 Bachelors in Computers Science / IS, 2 Masters in Software and IS, worked since i was 19 while I was in college, now I am 30 and make 180k and can't afford to buy a the equivillent sized boomer house because I bought after 2005 and can't sell my current small one. When I say equivillient I am saying people within my same income bracket and education who are boomers.

And of course none of the boomers understand why this is happening because to do so would admit that THEIR having these things is the result of luck and not just their hard work.

My in laws bought a house in N. Arlington for $35K 30 years ago. My FIL went right out of college into a cushy job and was head of his division without 10 years. He retired making over a million dollars with a BA.

Whereas me and DH have grad degrees and are struggling, making less than $100K. Of course ILs don't get it, since $85K was a lot to them when they started. We are always being asked why we don't buy a house someplace a little further out, like Del Ray, or why we don't just save a little? They literally DO NOT GET IT.

I'm so tired of me and DH being made to feel like losers because I didn't have the opportunities and LUCK they did.

THIS! The boomers cannot die fast enough.

I'm a boomer and worked for every single thing I've ever had. Our generation didn't feel entitled to things we couldn't afford. Now, everyone has a cell phone, computer, tivo, cable, etc. Get a second job if you can't afford things...that's what we did. Plus, we never went out to eat in college...now all college students seem to.

Yes. We are all in debt because we went out to eat too much in college.

Sounds like someone's losing their grip! Taken your ginko biloba today, grandma?
