My waitlisted, now accepted DD had 284. It's all lottery, but rejected from AOS is weird. Maybe she didn't answer the essay question correctly or had too low scores in the science part of the test?
I think AOS has 10% smaller class.

For the 70000th time, admissions is NOT solely based on this test. It's a quarter of the admission. Essay, teacher open fields, and actual middle school grades count.

It seems like they no longer want the Asian kid who spends 15 hours at Kumon every week.

True. Pardon my ignorance - what is "teacher open fields" ? do not think teacher recommendation letters are needed or lookedt at AOS/AET

AOL people ranking students as below

For AOS, essay+ average of 3 sections other than Tecklogic

For AET, essay+ average of 3 sections other than Scientific thinking

My Asian kid has been attending Kumon for years, and received offers for both AOS and AET IT.

Unlike TJ Admissions, AOL admissions appear to be rewarding students with higher math of Geometry and Algebra 2.

AOS and AET integrated math starts off with Algebra 2. I haven't heard of any Algebra 1 kid receiving AET or AOS offer. It is likely Algebra 1 kids go for MATA trade skills programs, and may not even be interested in applying to AET/AOS.

TJ is in a unique situation where they are having to admit 150 to 170 Algebra1 kids to meet their equity objective.

Kumon, curie all these are available to everyone not only for Asian kids. We just need to spend a little bit of money on it and do hard work . We can’t expect to get into anything without having enough proficiency
