Hogan is pro Israel and pro Ukraine which is fine and sets him apart from the MAGA and their isolationist foreign policy. I shudder to think that Trump would ignore our mutual defense treaties with allies if they were attacked, like the Philippines (re China). I haven’t yet heard his views on the plight of the Palestinians and the dual state proposal by Biden. It’s a very delicate political matter so I doubt he’d say much. |
If Trump becomes president and decides to withdraw support for Ukraine, make no mistake, Larry Hogan will absolutely play ball if his vote is needed. |
The incumbent Senator is Ben Cardin. It’s impossible for anyone to be more pro-Israel. |
What are you talking about? Making deciding votes in favor of MAGA policies is exactly the opposite of what Hogan is campaigning on. You say that caucusing is enough but cannot explain what that means in practical terms. |
Please disregard whatever Larry Hogan is saying on the campaign trail right now to appear more moderate and get your vote. It doesn’t mean anything. Don’t kid yourself. If Trump wins, he will be calling the shots. Not Larry Hogan. And Hogan will do as he is told when his votes are needed. That’s just reality. |
I disagree. I think Hogan has realized that this dream of presidency or beyond won't happen. He's handcuffed to Maryland. And there's nothing a moderate democrat from MD loves more than seeing a republican stand up to Trump. He's 100% going to win. But I also have some faith that he'll stay true to how he's acted for the last 8 years and not be afraid of Trump |
based upon your belief? There is no data to say that would happen. Hogan despises trump and the Maga contingent may already be past their peak. Like it or not, we need sane Republican's in office...just as we need sane Democrats. The alt left progressives are just as destructive to the US as the Maga contingent...different avenues, but destructive nonetheless. Both extremes have lost their dang mind. |
Yeah. This is just Youngkin all over again. Campaign as a “reasonable” R but when you are elected you become part of the machine outlawing abortion rights, confirming nutball judges, ending NATO etc. Plus it’s not like Hogan really has that great a record. He wasted tons of state money with that stunt of flying masks in from Korea that were worthless, he screwed over blue parts of the state, his chief of staff was corrupt (died fleeing the FBI). It’s not like he’s Eisenhower or even Morella. |
And the sun may rise in the west tomorrow! Who knows? |
he also could be similar to Mitt Romney..and as a Democrat, I would take Romney over many many Dems and even Biden |
I mean, you could say that about anybody in terms of disregarding what they are saying on the campaign trail. I think Hogan will support true R policies, not RINO ones like some of the MAGA/Trump push, like isolationist strategies. |
Hogan was a two term Republican governor who was very anti MAGA and very anti Trump and all they stood for. So he won’t pull a Youngkin as senator, and suddenly go MAGA like he did. |
+1 ITA Why do you think Hogan won MD? Because Dems have also had it with the progressive far left. |
No politician has a "great" record. I don't like Biden at all; he doesn't have a great record with a lot of people, but many will still vote for Biden, including me, because I absolutely loathe Trump and think he's a danger to our country. I don't think Hogan is a danger to our country. Biden is also somewhat dangerous to our country but not as much as Trump. 2024 potus election choices just absolutely suck a$$, but I support Hogan. |
At least Youngkin was term-limited to just one 4-year term and wouldn’t be setting national policy. With Hogan it will be 6 years, no term limits, and his capitulations will impact everyone in the United States. |
