Has AEA sorted themselves out as an organization? I know they were a hot mess in 2022, haven't really been following along since. I don't necessarily trust them to represent what most teachers want. |
What right wing initiatives are they supporting? I subscribe to their newsletter, and I support what I’m seeing. I don’t want my kids on devices, and I want the school system to focus on excellence in education instead of whatever fad they are cooking up. Kids can still feel “included” and “partners” in an excellent school system that has high expectations for them. |
Kathleen got her start in sped but then she branched out. She is Vice Chair of the Strategic Plan Committee. |
Kathleen is NOT an APE plant. C'mon. |
Why does APE choose to do this on Fox news though, of all places? And it's in a Fox segment where it's lumped together with explicit mentions of critical race theory, sexual education, and parents rights. This is telling. APE has a political agenda and not one that is in line with most of our values in Arlington. |
Most real Dems don't go on Fox news |
Ive never seen APE support any of these. Can you show explains? I’m truly curious. The last I heard /saw they were promoting less Tech use (which I’m for) and questioning the retake policy, which did end up being a disaster and APS changed. I know dcumers love to hate ape but I’m genuinely curious to see when ape has promoted any of this. i remember one guy in that FB APS group would promote school choice all the time but he had no affiliation with APE. So where are you seeing this? |
Of course they join the manufactured chorus of anti-public school sentiment on FoxNews. |
You sure? Sounds like Kathleen and Miranda are bffs. I just went to vpap and some others have donated to her big money. Disappointing. But it’s a disappointing race. |
1. APE supports Youngkin. Where is their outrage “article” about Youngkin defunding APS? 2. This has been nonstop since covid. 3. Not overtly but all of their Republican buddies are pretty open about it. They carefully choose their positions to avoid red flags. |
I think you're tilting at windmills, but I guess everyone needs a hobby. |
Not to mention that APE is now apparently for Youngkin's/his VDOEs move to change accreditation standards. The superintendents, school board associations and teachers are totally against this proposal BTW: https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2024/04/03/virginia-school-accreditation-rankings-change/ I mean, if you want to think APE is a group of people who care about APS and public schools in general, then keep your heads buried. Most of their kids have left for private school. And the ones that stayed are making our PTAs and committees terrible places to belong. |
That poster isn't naive, they are an APE defender. APE is on DCUM all the time policing all the threads. They often get posts about APE removed. |
And they complain about their own "free speech" while eliminating dissent and actual concerns. Even more of a reason why APE has no business being on our school board. I will continue to raise concerns about SB candidates who engage with them. APE engages with everyone in bad faith, even anonymously. |
I bet you are a Zuraya booster trying to undermine Kathleen. |
