Feedback on VLC Club Lacrosse?

Congrats to VLC for finally having a couple winning teams last weekend. Maybe VLC is finally getting the message to put their players in appropriate tournaments with appropriate competition. Had they been doing aloha tournaments since the Cavs merger - a couple teams would not have imploded

Anyone know why the cancelled Skills and Drills? My son did that awhile ago and had fun.

Do you mean VLC cancelled all of their winter skill sessions (for a specific team or age)? Or some type of one-off pocket lining type event. If the former, that is an issue because most teams have some form of winter weekly skills/drills. Cancelling that would leave kids to their own devices (literally and figuratively). If the later, not a big deal.

That's a really good question. S&D was a great program, it met once per weekend, rain, snow, whatever, and gave the boys great coaching and practice reps. It served as winter training for their existing players and a means to recruit new ones. I am guessing it was canceled due to lack of resources (coaches, field space) or interest on the part of VLC. I expect it was not canceled due to lack of interest by the players. But if anybody knows why, please do share.

It looks like ALL of Skills and Drills according to their post on Instagram.

Maybe it's just low turnout and not economic for VLC to do it. It is not cheap, it translates to $60/hour which is close to private lacrosse tutoring. You can find group fitness training at some gyms for a fraction of that. Also many kids have box, basketball, swimming, hockey - another reason for low turnout.

Exactly, but still not an excuse. Not economic because of low turnout, understood. Low turn out because?
Box, BBall, hockey etc didn’t just start this year! Why are they choosing not to go to VLC forcing low turnout and cancellation?

Is it extra money for families or was this included in the club costs?

VLC is a dying brand. Probably not enough interest.

It is an extra cost to the VLC families.

Well it looks like the 2026 team has a new coach.

Did the 25s see any comments- or is this club just dead?

Right now true beats most of VLC’s middle school and elementary school teams. (True has teams at every grade - something VLC can’t say). Whether this continues into HS is the big question. ML looks shaky with multiple team implosions over the last couple years. So I think that there is a chance a team (true/VLC) moves into the third spot. DCEs 27 & 28s have serious problems and a lot of talented kids will need somewhere to go. VLC’s got a chance.

What serious problems does DCE 28 have?

DCE 28 at both A and B are seriously oversubscribed. Withe 27& 25 kids respectively. Look for a lot of departchers in the fall as good players look for playing time

You could say those teams aren't that good either. Both are 1-4 in their respective HOCO divisions.with the A team getting somewhat thumped in thier losses.

Yes, DCE is struggling, because they are still gelling from what was essentially a merger with Madlax, plus they are weak at a couple of key positions, but the 1-4 record does not mean they are a bad team. they have plenty of talented players. the bigger story in the 2028 world is that MadLax is a dumpster fire. there are only two elite teams in the 2028 class right now, NL and DCE, and both of their A team rosters are too big, plus there are good players on the B teams who will never get a fair shot at the A team, and they know it. This presents an AMAZING opportunity for VLC. If they were smart they would announce a good coach and start recruiting. They would get plenty of refugees from NL, ML, and DCE.
