The regular groups have 6-8 or more kids per lane. The more elite groups have 2-4. |
Yes, 6+ is common in juniors but not as much during the less busy practices (e.g. Friday evening). |
The Cameron St. garage is very close and easy to park in. Having swum at SSRAC a few times, there is also sometimes street parking in the same block as the garage. For drop-offs, know that the space directly in front of SSRAC is *very* tight - not at all like KSAC. It's really not tenable to drop kids off, so plan extra time to park and walk. SSRAC is beautiful, at least! Lots of natural light for the main lap pool. |
Thank you PPs - all very useful information on the parking at the new Silver Spring Aquatic center. |
What does the schedule look like for the advanced groups?

Thanks! This makes sense. |
Just emailed a new schedule. This is an absolute nightmare. |
Which group? For us, it looks pretty reasonable and should be workable. |
Different from the ones listed above? |
That's what is odd about the "nightmare" comment...I think it was a weak troll attempt. The updated schedule is mostly the same as the initial schedule they sent out, only minor tweaks/adjustments. The most significant change was the "Senior" group was split into Senior A and Senior B and they added the dryland times... aside from that it was just minor adjustments to what was already posted above. |
Yes, if you are in seniors and not guaranteed choice it’s a nightmare. |
"If"... I have not heard that they said you won't get a choice or the selection wont be based on where you live... With 2 days of overlap/being the same for A and B(Wed and Sun), it looks like they intentionally set up a north and south option to accommodate where people live - those north and west would likely favor the B group and those south and east would favor/select the A group. If that's the case, it seems like a pretty good plan to me. But, if it turns out you live, say, someplace like North Farm and you have no say and get paced in Seniors A, then that would be a nightmare... but I haven't heard that this is the case so I'll hold off with the doom and gloom for now. |
are AM sessions required for seniors? |
Neither A nor B has am during the week. The have a joint am session followed by DL on Sunday mornings. Don't know if it is required. |
