There should be 2 or 3 at most teams. 5 is too many for top talent. If you decline, isn't that why they have alternates?

Exactly. When we signed up, we didn’t expect there to be five teams. Declining when you are not on one of the top three teams Should be understandable. Seems like an absolute money grab at that point.

It's a cool thing for the resume, and divisions 3-5 are really crapshoots and basically even depending on the draw. As a recruiting event it is a nothing burger. Almost no coaches and they don't care. So don't do it to get recruited. Do it cause you love the game.

OK. Fair enough. What exactly do you put on their résumé national schoolgirls team five?? And I assume you certainly wouldn’t alert coaches to come watch if you are on that team.

They could do that to self sabotage or they could say they played in the National School Girls Tournament.

Team 4 and 5 are still having a great time regardless! It’s a fun weekend seeing how teams from around the country play. Enjoy a few days of relaxing, good lax

Great opportunity to play with girls from around the country, play some great lacrosse, spend time together as a family and have a FUN Memorial Day weekend! Team 5 will play with other teams of similar level - it will be competitive! Also - remember there are plenty of girls who didn't make team 5 or weren't asked to try out! It's an honor - no matter what team!

with the exception of last year, there are always 5 teams. USA lacrosse wants our area to provide as many girls as possible since many areas can't bring our level of talent.

From the tournament website:

If a player does not fulfill their commitment to participate in the Women’s National
Tournament, including participation in every scheduled game, the following penalties will be
imposed:
• Players will not be allowed to receive any USA Lacrosse honors (i.e. All-American and/or
Academic All-American) and are banned from participating in the USA Lacrosse National
Tournament the following year, if eligible.
• If multiple players from the same school do not participate fully, or if there is a second
violation by a player from the same school within a three-year period, then all players
from that school will be deemed ineligible for any USA Lacrosse honors or participation
in the National Tournament for a period of one (1) year.
