Is the food inside the White House grounds? I thought they always had those vendors outside. |
I am wondering more about the food vendor locations as well. My girls are very picky breakfast eaters and my youngest tends to get weak if she doesn't get some form of protein during the event. Also I am wondering how far the walk is from the ellipse check in area to the actual white house lawn. Of all the times my husband got a sprain foot and can hardly walk. |
Will we be allowed camera's. That wasn't on the list of items that we can't bring, but want to make sure that we can bring it in. |
We have 4 tickets for the 1:15-3:15 slot and want to switch with someone in the earlier time periods. Interested??? |
Hey thanks for this. Believe, me I would love to do my show for all the 2 hour blocks, but they gave me the early morning spots and that's it. They have entertainment from all over the country and have to fill tons of hours. They asked if after my shows, I would stroll around and do walk around stuff. Of course, I will. I love talking and meeting new people, so come up with your child and I will do a one on one trick with them. I could be worse, I could be performing the same time as the Jonas Brothers. That would be rough. |
I read earlier comments asking if you get "kicked out" at a certain time based on when you are admitted.
Just wanted to say that, in the past, the answer was no. The time of admission is fixed - and you need to get there early to join the others in line with your time of admission - but there was no effort made to round people up or make them leave. None at all. The bottom line is that, if our experience is any indication, you and your children are pretty ready to leave after an hour or two just because you're tired and have done all the things there are to do. I would imagine that the process will be similar this year. And, for the person who posted the information about some tickets being held back and distributed to diverse family groups, it's standard procedure for Administrations to do this. All Administrations hold groups of tickets back to distribute to whomever they choose. The total number of tickets held back is generally very small compared to the total number of attendees - usually around 5,000 tickets compared to the 25,000 total who attend the event through the course of the day. The only thing that was different this year is that regular ticket distribution took place via the internet rather than at the visitors' center on the Ellipse (a process which necessitated camping overnight on the Ellipse in order to get a place in line that would guarantee your getting a ticket). |
Thanks for clearing that all up. I think the news story was posted to show how nice it was tickets were being held back and it is well known it is done every year. |
anyone get to see the obamas or know which session they were at?
We were at the first session and never saw them..... |
They were at the second session (group B). I got to shake the presidents hand. Also saw Michelle and Sasha. |
I saw him in Group B too, was surprised he didn't goto Group A as many said he would. |
Okay; this just made me laugh out loud. |
Does anyone know how to find out which schools got tickets this year? There's a rumor going around my kids' school that they got 50 tickets and the principal will only give them to members of the student council and the other kids are screaming unfair and I would have to agree. Elementary school student council, voted in by 5-10 year olds, aren't inherently more deserving. Should have been a lottery or contest in my opinion. I want to find out if it's true that they got tickets, because if so, the principle has some explaining to do. |
Why did you bump a 2 year old thread? You could have started a new one. |
