Were your (singleton) HcG levels higher than average? Are you having a girl?

Anonymous
Happened across some interesting research yesterday. Basically what it says is that HcG levels are higher for girl babies, as early as 14-20 dpo. I'm assuming this is the basis for the idea that girl babies mean more morning sickness (since morning sickness is supposedly linked to HcG levels) but given that not everyone's body responds the same to HcG, it seems like looking at the HcG levels themselves would be a much more accurate predictor than asking about someone's morning sickness.

So here's the question--(assuming you're pretty certain of your conception/ovulation dates) did your HcG levels correlate at all with gender? Were they higher than average for your girl baby? Were they lower for your boy?

Here's the article:

Yes for me. My boy was 40 at 13 dpo. My girl was 387 at 14dpo, and I had terrible nausea with her the whole pregnancy.

Had high levels, having a boy

I was 1003 at 15 dpo. Having a girl, but I did not have severe morning sickness at all.

I had exceptionally high HcG (still within normal range) -- OB actually said "You're VERY pregnant!"

I am having a girl. No nausea at all the whole pregnancy

My betas were very high--Day 19 past IVF retrieval was 1,347 and I had a girl. No real nausea during first trimester though.

Interesting. I don't remember my numbers for my boys, but for this one:

16dpo -623

18dpo -1477

These are definitely high & baby is a girl..

With my first the numbers were extremely high (don't remember them off hand, but doctor said they were more typical of a twin pregnancy even though it was a singleton). That pregnancy was a boy.

This pregnancy my numbers have been average. Morning sickness has been worse. Don't know the gender yet.

I don't remember the numbers but my morning sickness was so bad that I ended up in the hospital. They tested my HcG levels and thought it might be twins because the numbers were so high. Turns out, it was a singleton and a boy.

I don't remember the levels, but my first was higher and was a boy. A girl the second time around. Both singles.

I don't think I was ever actually told my levels, but my OB/GYN's nurse told me via phone when I called in to ask about a blood test. She said, "You are SO pregnant!" and sent me for an ultrasound the next day because they thought I was having twins. I have a beautiful daughter now

My beta the last time was really high. I think it was at 14 DPO like 5,000. They assumed I was having twins. Went for ultrasound, found twins. Went back for another 2 weeks later and only 1 there. I did have a girl though.

This is a very interestin post. I'm so glad I jumped over to check out this board. I am 18dpt (FET) and received my second beta yesterday: 12816. Is that unusally high?

Yes. Sounds to me like it could be twins.

I was at 16,053 at about 25 dpo ... does that sound on par for a singleton or is that more of a twins number?
