Had all 4 removed at age 14 - it's no big deal. Sure it hurts for a weekend, but she'll get over it. |
no- actually I am a "real" dr. Not every patient is u--why are u so angry? The vast majority of ppl have no cosmetic or medical reason for having them removed. |
Had all 4 of mine out (and a cyst removed from my jaw) when I was 17. All done in the maxillofacial surgeon's office. Not a good time to discover that gas does not knock me out because he couldn't do an IV in the office! So I had them all out wide awake with novacaine only. I remember I went to a party the next day - albeit slightly swollen but OTC meds only. The worst part was trying to eat with all those stitches. |
OP here,
Thanks everyone! All the positive stories really built up my confidence! We had it done yesterday and everything went well with the procedure. When she woke up from the anesthesia she was crying and agitated. They kept her in recovery a little longer than usual and the surgeon actually helped me get her out to the car. She doesn't remember a thing about the procedure and is feeling much better already! So thanks again for all the responses! However, she is bored, and mad that she is spending Spring Break recuperating! |
I had all 4 of mine out when I was a teen. I was out of it,and my mom helped me walk to the car. (That was 20 years ago.) Anyway, my cheeks were puffy for a little over a week, so definitely have your teen's teeth out during summer break or over a week long break. I had to have cotton in my mouth to soak op the bleeding, I don't remember how many days, perhaps a week. Anyways, it all sounds very gross and upsetting, but believe me, it was worth it!!! The x-rays showed that my wisdom teeth would have shot up at an angle right into my other teeth, and they would have ruined my straight teeth, which took almost 3 years of wearing braces to get. |
20:37 here. Ooops, I didn't read your last post, OP. Well, she won't like it for now, but later she will glad she got it done. |
OP here, thanks for your response! |
