I just checked and saw that my Auto Pay hasn't been deducted since November.
I called in and was told I had a $75 credit that will be applied to March??? I guess I'm not complaining but I fully expect a $300 bill to be sent at some point. |
How are they functioning as a company if millions of us aren't paying anything for months? |
Strange, I've been regularly receiving e-bills through my bank, but then got an email telling me that late fees would not be applied. I went back and checked and I've paid through my bank December, January and February. |
Don't stick any of the utilities etc on auto pay. Cable has overcharged, gas isn't working. etc. |
Same thing happened to us too for Dec/Jan. Was on auto-pay but then it stopped working. I was randomly checking all my utility bills a few weeks ago and had to update my account info for the gas. Then when i logged in I noticed the huge bill for the last 2 months. Made a one time payment for that and set up auto pay again and it just debited a few days ago. So it seems fixed for me at least. Maybe the auto-pay takes a cycle to kick in. |
Thanks for posting this. I just check my bank account. No payments have been made from my account since November. I am going to call them tomorrow and go back to paper billing where I mail in the check until they fix their glitch. I'm not comfortable doing auto pay until they have resolved their issues. |
Hey all! Auto bill pay just went through this morning. 3 months late (or 4?) and it was over $300. I love it when I randomly have bills withdrawn from my account. |
Glad I saw this thread. I got a bill in the mail for $600 (!) - when I logged in, I realized it hadn't been deducting autopayments since November for some reason. So frustrating. |
I never allow bills like that to be paid automatically. I have to review them to make sure they are correct and each month I sit down with my budget and pay them all manually. I know their online bill pay system as well as Pepcos are not user friendly at all. It shouldn't be that hard to pay a damn bill! I am tempted to go old school and sit down to write out physical checks again. |
+1 |
I heard on the news it's a known issue and some sort of grace period was being offered. Also, I think they said there's an online fix or trick. |
So I got charged $300 3 weeks ago and then yesterday I saw there was another $150 bill. I have NO IDEA what's what. Why am I being charged at an off time?? What a mess. I would like to know what my real charges are and why I'm being billed so much, so often. I have electric heat! I spent a while on their website and couldn't make heads or tails out of it. |
You read your own gas meter? If not, how could you possibly know if your monthly gas bill is correct? |
Maybe poster looks at the bill to see if it is plausible - i.e., if it's 10 times what it normally is. (It's easy enough to check gas meter though). Washington Gas is the worst - they failed to bill me for 6+ months because they didn't check the meter (their automatic meter reader wasn't working), despite my requests that they do so. Eventually they did, and sent a bill for $3000 or something. Of course, during the time period the price of gas had doubled and they billed the entire amount at the new, higher price. Took me nearly a year to get them to credit back the difference. |
We are also enrolled in autopay, and the 29th of the month is when the account is supposed to be debited. I called them to let them know nothing is showing up on the account and they said to give it another day.
I wanted to go online and stop the autopay and have the bill me every month. I prefer to send them a check because I just don't trust their billing system. However, my online account is locked. They were supposed to send me a temporary password but that hasn't arrived. This has been an ordeal. Fortunately, their customer service representatives on the phone have been polite. |
