Someone rolled their eyes at me today...

What I horrible day! I'm having a get together after my dad's funeral today and realized that we didn't have all I needed in the house, so I went to the store. On my way there I got a flat tire, had to change it. By the time I got back in the car I had a horrible headache. You know, probably from the crying, the pressure to have all these people at my house in such a grieving moment and just having to go to the store in such short notice...
Anyway, I am informed the store doesn't have one of the items I need, so I have to go to another store... I hurry to the check out line and there is this lady, singing out loud to a little kid, distracting the cashier and holding up the line. Ugh! All I could do was roll my eyes and think "when is this day gonna be over?

Yes, I do realize that the chances this actually happened are incredibly small. But my point is, you'll never know. If the worst part of your day is someone rolling their eyes at you, consider yourself lucky.

Sorry, but I don't think this is valid. Yes, the person rolling his eyes could be having a bad day, but how does rolling his eyes make him feel any better? It's rude, no matter what his situation is.

I'm all for being positive, I am usually singing myself. But my point is, you can't expect people to be happy all the time and criticize them for rolling their eyes at you without walking in their shoes first. Maybe he didn't go to the self check out because all he had was a check! You don't know. If you're so cheery, then move on and go on blissfully about your day. The fact that you had to come here and "vent" that someone rolled their eyes at you (the HORROR!) shows that you haven't.
OP here.

Why people insist on thinking of the worst?

As I said, for people in a rush the self check out was EMPTY!

Whenever I get a chance I use the cashier operated one because my mom works in a grocery store and I think those guys need their job.

Sorry but I'm not that kind of person who is always thinking of the worse and I must tell you, I think it helps me to keep my family and all around us HAPPIER.

Like someone else said, you probably were slowing down the process of checking out, by focusing on singing to your daughter than actually checking out. That would drive me crazy also. You would get more than a roll of the eyes with me.

Haven't what?

I smiled at him and kept singing. He didn't ruin my day and I'm here just because all the dishes are done, lunch is ready and the laundry is put away. DH is on his way home and DC is still napping. That's they ONLY reason why I'm here.

Sorry if you're so bored you have to resort to using your precious time making up excuses for people's bad behavior. I hope your day improves.

I think your anger made you miss the original post.

All the items were on the belt, the lady was scanning them and the guy who bags the items was already helping me out. I was singing to DD while the lady was doing her job.

Again, I hope you get a way to fix this... feeling annoyed for other people's happiness can't be healthy for you.

Just ignore them, OP. If you'd let your daughter cry they'd accuse you of being a horrible mother who can't control her child.

The singer sings so you don't have to. Please keep your tune to yourself. TIA

Geez OP, calm down. One man rolls his eyes and you are ready to attack everyone. You made a comment on every post on this topic, that did not agree with you. Sing again so you can be happy. Geez...

I know it's hard to believe, but some people actually want to just get in and get out of the store. I am sure he took your "Glee" moment as wasting time. Maybe you should have waited until after you paid.

I agree! I'm probably a bit more self-conscious than OP and wouldn't have joined in the singing, but I would've smiled for sure and enjoyed the moment!

Do you ever wonder if people used to walk around singing more, before TV and radio?

I can only imagine OP's facebook post today. "Ugh, some people are so mean, got eye rolled today while totally rocking Boy's Don't Cry in the grocery store. Sophia was loving it and this guy obviously doesn't know good singing when he hears it. I mean I am the Karaoke Queen, right ladies?"

Sounds like a really bad country song. You forgot the part about your wife leaving you and your dog dying.
