Florida panhandle has not had great weather, some days so windy the beach was closed because of currents, and yesterday it poured all day! Had to wear sweaters had dinner last night.

Next year it’s end of April.

This sucks. We considered Arizona but ultimately didn’t because I figured the weather had the potential to still be cold and yucky this time of year. Spring break was too early this year! Hard to find anywhere with warmth/sun in March.

We always have good luck in central and south Florida. It’s so maligned on this site but the weather was idyllic this week and I’ve been so bummed that we chose AZ to “see something different” rather than our old standby.

Good, because March weather is so unpredictable in most places.

Day long lesson was a busy as the other kid in the “new skier” group needed one on one; when we picked up our kid, all they could do is go straight down which terrified them and the instructor admitted he didn’t spend much time with my kid. We tried to go down a longer green run as a family and they had a panic attack on the slope. We are trying one more time this morning but if they are still terrified, we will have to figure out non-ski activities for me+tween while teen sibling + other parent spend the rest of the week on the slopes.

Why would you go all the way out west to ski with a kid who has never skied before? We've been working up to a trip out west by taking our kids to Deep Creek and Timberline. We won't go west until they are confident enough to ski blues and robust enough to ski for a few days in a row.

We are on cruise out of Florida to the eastern Caribbean and so far have been having fun. We strategically chose excursions at each stop to avoid crowds and so far it's been great. Beautiful weather.

Which cruise?

Ft Lauderdale - Puerto Rico - St Martin - St Thomas - Dominican Republic

We’re in Naples and the weather has been great. My in-laws have a nice home a few houses from the beach with an easy drive or walk into town. There are plenty of parks for our kids plus boat rides and a nice zoo. I wouldn’t recommend it for teens as there wouldn’t be much to do except head to the beach.

“A bust”, not “busy”

Have him do the bunny slopes all day. This is what worked with my anxious kid. I went down with them a few times and then she felt good being on her own while I went off. She called when she was done for the day and we met at a designated area.

To the PP skiing west with a new skier. It is really the best place to learn. The snow is forgiving and not icy like on the east coast. A multi say ski lesson or if you can splurge, a private lesson will help.

It always amazes me that so many choose the Florida panhandle for spring break, because it is usually a bit chilly this time of year.

Grand Canyon and Sedona are always hit or miss this time of year. We’ve hiked in snow in Sedona one year and it’s been 75 and dry the next. Phoenix is usually safe, but was not great this past weekend. Was hoping for warmth and sunshine this past weekend but got cloudy and cool. Still good for hiking, but not what I wanted.

Sorry you had less than ideal weather, but hope the sights made up for it some!

+1 we taught our kids in CO bc we didn’t have to worry about poor conditions, ice, slush etc. Also a full day lesson is a little overkill for a kid the first time so recommend half-day lessons. we did half-day and then they came with us the rest of the day. ours had a great experience learning this way

We went to St. Louis for spring break even though we’ve been the past two years as well because my kids love the City Museum so much. I was hoping that this time would be less crowded because St. Louis schools did not have their break the same week. Unfortunately everyone else in the Midwest has also discovered St. Louis and it was more crowded than ever. Kids still had a great time.

Iceland has been great this week!

NYC for a few days. Greenwich village pizza, MoMA, Central Park, Statue of Liberty, dinner and a show. Fun even though NYC is not my favorite - so dirty and crowded.

Don't Recommend: Florida in March at the moment. Especially Sarasota, Bradenton,Clearwater/Tampa, Orlando. Nonstop traffic, bad parking, long wait lines everywhere.

We're in Sarasota, traffic is heavy but we're not using our car. Weather is perfect.
