This doesn't make sense.
the ipad is done - he isn’t in trouble Taking his iPad says he is in trouble. Anyways, you need to put on parental controls. I don't let my kids on YouTube. |
My kid had more access to you tube than he should. We checked history (though hard to do with shorts). However, the biggest thing we talked about was what he could find on there, and why it was a problem and that we needed him to stay away. Combined with the checks, that has set us up ok now for when he is older. |
We had a friends kid who went down a you tube rabbit hole and ended up seeing a video of a man murdering a cat. The kid was traumatized. Not what he was searching for, but it was a good conversation to have with my kids on how you cannot unsee things. Searching for butts seems like it could be funny but it get dark real quick |
The problem with YouTube is that the title of the video does not necessarily match what's in the video. It is not regulated and no one is watching the videos that anyone can upload. |
Whatever. I definitely had friends sneaking playboy in elementary school |
Not at 8 you 🤡 |
lmao what? |
Most of y'all are walking around with your entire ass on display these days and/or wearing leggings with the stitching right up the crack making sure everyone gets an extra eyefull and you're confused when kids are googling womens butts ? |
Minecraft sucks |
Not these cottage cheese harpies |
Time to get those content restrictions on, OP. We learned this the hard way as well during Covid. Apparently the school iPads were not preset with content restrictions and our second grade son googled “what is a sexy butt?” Apparently he heard that phrase somewhere. Let’s just say the results of that got dark really fast. |
Plus dressing their kids in skin tight leggings and Lululemon Hotty Hot shorts with a crop top thinking they’re cute. Am I the only one who laughed when he googled butts? Or when the op said “in her eyes” looking at girls in swimsuits is porn? |
You don’t let an 8 year old search for anything on the internet. Minecraft included. If he really wants something, you sit down with him and help him find it. If you don’t have time for this then he goes without. And you start to talk about what the problem is with allowing kids full access to the internet. Explain in general terms that there is a lot of stuff that is not appropriate for kids. He’s 8! Get him off the screen! |
Set content restrictions. We have YouTube blocked, too much crap on there. We’ve also had some basic conversations about how there’s a lot of stuff on the internet that isn’t good even for adults. We’ve explained how search algorithms work (occasionally we allow supervised YouTube on the tv when we’re looking for something particular). |
Right? Also got everyone talking about blocking and filtering content, he’s going to be able to look at women in swimsuits on the lands end website and I challenge you to find a content blocker that will say a purveyor of children’s clothing is inappropriate. |
