GW

I don’t agree with the prior poster.
Drs. Gaba, Bathgate, Keller, Marko, Jamshidi, Madkour, Martinez, Sheth, Gallagher, Phillips, Cigna are all still there. Yes, there are new people there but they did not seem inexperienced. Also, the midwives are seasoned as well. This seems to be the group that takes on the high acuity cases. I switched back to GW because essentially my Sibley doc said if something went west with the pregnancy he would transfer me there…so, here I am at GW. Maybe I’ll get one of the new rooms…

Do not deliver at GW. They engage in risky behavior to avoid c-sections. My first born died because of this. Find another hospital.

I’m so sorry to hear that. When was that? I also felt the midwives were cavalier with my health.

You’re not able to see Madkour, Sheth, or Cigna for OBGYN.

+2. The midwives were negligent during my delivery. I could have had a med mal case against them. Horrible.

Would you be able to share any details? Was it clear during the labor that something wasn’t rigtht?

care to elaborate?

They yanked my placenta out hard before it was ready, and I lost so much blood. I went into hypovolemic shock, had an emergency blood transfusion.

Yep. But they shared nothing with me that it was, and waited far long to involve the doctors. Let me push for hours. Didn’t recognize fetal malposition, etc. I will honestly never forgive myself for willingly choosing a midwife over an OB. It’s one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made in my life - thinking a lesser qualified person with less training and experience who could not actually perform the life-saving interventions I needed was somehow going to be better to safely deliver me and my child through a process that used to maim and kill women and babies. It was the stupidest thing I ever did.

Immediate prior poster.
I am so sorry this happened to you.
I am glad you are ok.
That’s all.

Some of the doctors listed are now only in the hospital for emergencies and labor.

+1 terminally ill. Was preventable. No to GW.

Are you a different poster then the one above?

I’m a new poster. I delivered my first at GW. Because I didn’t know any better, I thought I got pretty unlucky with the circumstances surrounding my delivery that resulting in serious, lifelong complications for myself and narrowly avoiding them for my child.

After spending a lot of time processing what happened, and giving birth at another hospital, I realized that I received bad care at GW. I agree with those who assessed it as cavalier to avoid c sections (which I have to have for all future children now thanks to my care at GW).

All of the doctors I was treated by have been listed as the good doctors still there.

Can you share any details at all? Which docs to avoid possibly?

Those who had bad experiences, were you with the midwives or regular OB team?
