Is a taxi really cheaper now? That was not ever my experience but it's been a while since I've flown out of DCA. We are basically halfway between Dulles and DCA and I feel like uber is like $35 from Dulles and taxi is closer to $50 all in... maybe $10 cheaper for each from DCA. |
Haven't really noticed a significant difference in prices between Uber and taxi. We took Uber to Dulles (20 minutes away), and took Washington Flyer back. The taxi was a couple of bucks cheaper, but that might be explained by time of day, or day or week, or something. |
About time! |
Taxis are only cheaper if you make sure they drop you off on the last corner inside the zone. Make sure it’s the correct side of the street, too. Once you cross into another zone, the fare goes up even if it’s just a block into that zone. |
This doesn’t mean there are no longer cabs at IAD or DCA. You landed at the same time as a surge in demand so the cab line emptied. It ebbs and flows. |
PP here. It may say taxi on the side but call it what it is, a monopoly. It’s BS. |
Zones disappeared years ago. All taxis from DCA are metered. Yes, taxis are often cheaper from DCA because uber always seems to have an outrageous surge charge. And I've had multiple ubers cancel on me after accepting the ride (I live in Bethesda so it's not that long a drive). So I end up getting a taxi most of the time. |
Huh? I took a taxi home last night from IAD! |
And paid by credit card! |
I find a taxi home from DCA saves me between $10-$15 up to Chevy Chase. Usually $29. |
I just got a taxi from DCA earlier this week. There were loads of them waiting in line for customers. And a few weeks ago I got one at IAD. |
Nope you took a Washington Flyer. |
Yes and a cab is cheaper |
A brand named taxi. |
If it isn't cheaper, it won't be much more expensive. Plus you likely won't be waiting 20 minutes for the driver to get to the airport. |
