Screened for drugs without permission

1. This is not part of routine screening at GW. I have had 4 babies there and have never taken a drug test. My doctor names everything ordered and then sends a message with the results. For the last 2 babies I have been able to see them with my chart.

2. If a test is positive for THC, would they call CPS. My husband and I are now discussing as he thinks no because it is now decriminalized in some states. (I don’t condone)

This is absolutely false. They will call CPS

This is the correct answer. They involve CPS if they come back positive.

And, they should call CPS. If you have ever seen a drug addicted new born you would know why drug tests are necessary.

And what does a newborn whose mother didn’t seek prenatal care due to fear of being reported look like?

DP but this is a stupid retort with no logic. A baby born to a drug addicted mother will be born as a drug addict whether or not the mother took her prenatal vitamins. The test prevents further damage to the child once they are born.

There is more to prenatal care than vitamins and I know you know that. Now the baby faces other medical complications (and so does the mother if you care) because you want doctors to be police.

I have never been drug tested so this is clearly not a “requirement” of any kind.
