Question for Atheists

Why do posters on this forum seem obsessed with atheists, and don't ask people of other religions if they'll suddenly see the light on their deathbeds?

It’s pretty clear why they are so obsessed. They just don’t want to admit it.

She simply cannot understand that not only do I not share her beliefs, but that there is no “hole” where God should be. I am explaining this badly but I think your question comes from the assumption that people must be for or against the idea of God. I neither hope I am right nor do I hope I am wrong. I just don’t think about it at all.

This is what I think too. My belief is that I should try to do more good than harm in this life and whether or not there is a God or “right” is not at all on my mind.

If God chooses to accept a mean person just because they go to church, and not accept a loving kind person who grapples with organized religion, then so be it.

This!

If "god" is the type of god who would punish a good person just because they didn't spend their time on earth worshipping them then that is not a good, fair or just god and certainly not a god that I want to spend eternity with.

God is good and fair. Man is not.

So God gives children cancer? But He also created the little children. He also cures little children of cancer. How does that make sense?

It makes no sense at all.

Basically God as defined by Judaism, Christianity, and Islam makes no sense to me. I can relate more to the philosophies of eastern religions like Hinduism and Buddhism but the rituals are overly rigid. I believe in myself, being kind to others, and that hard work - physical and mental - pays off. I can’t see myself ever feeling I need religion to direct me.
