VRSC

Piggybacking off the post about "Valor, Great Falls Reston vs Herndon, clubs from Alexandria to Arlington to Loudon.' What's the VRSC environment like? Do I have this information correct - a bunch of new coaches left after they were all hired? Information would be appreciated. Thanks all.

Let's not mention their home fields and bar and such. I'm looking past all of that and trying to gain more internal knowledge of them.

The Valor post is talking about a former coach DS who went from VRSC to Valor. Maybe you can gain insight there.

It's strange. One of their coaches shows up to every practice smelling like marijuana.

It's ok. Lots of Loudoun politics carry over, but for very little real reason. The girl's program is tiny and not great, and the boy's program is fairly decent from what I've seen during indoor. Lots of the adults are blinded by the facility...

Isn't it legal in VA and MD also?

They have a bar?

VRSC is stronger on boys side but is growing. They went from having one team at each age group to where they have 2 to 3 teams at boys age groups. Practices are 3 days a week with one optional day. They are very well organized and communication is great.

Oh yes. And a TD who spends a lot of time at it. Some would say he should spend more time there and leave the coaching to the people who are good at it…

VRSC is full of kids who couldn't make 2nd or 3rd teams at more established Loudoun soccer that is 10 min away. Coaching is questionable and not stable. I don't think any skilled coaches want to work for Nico. Owner has a lot of money though and the bar IS nice but factor that into your club fees which are expensive for NCSL or EDP bottom brackets.

They are ok if you just want a local travel team.

Or Potomac where all the parents have fake 'medical marijuana' cards to make them better than urban weedheads

I mean, are we just ignoring how VRSC poached Christian Cziommer from FCV?

That's not a small addition by any stretch.

As long as their teams are stuck in NCSL/EDP/USYS, it's a very small addition

It was a very good hire but the big question is how much autonomy will he have? If his boss starts injecting himself into matters, then it’s definitely not going to turn into FCV 2.0 despite having CC and most of the former FCV staff. If the guy with the money ensures that that doesn’t happen, then maybe.
